This challenge is inspired by Drew Manning's extraordinary journey from fit to fat (on purpose!) and back to fit again. (If you haven't heard of him yet, check out www.Fit2Fat2Fit.com for more information.) The purpose of this challenge is to join Drew on the second leg of his journey from Fat 2 Fit to see who can lose the most amount of weight in 6 months.

Congratulations to beggaboo! They won this challenge on May 11, 2012.

I’m in, it coincides with our other weight loss challenge and a good push to be ‘fit for spring’.

I finally took the time to check out Drew Manning and his Fit2Fat2Fit website – truly motivational, his segment with Dr. Oz is well worth watching. I am truly motivated to make a push towards obtaining a much healthier BMI after viewing this…

Yes, I agree, me too ! I just watched it myself and part 2 (http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/drew-manning-fit…) of the 3 part section is pretty intense. I wonder what my kidneys look like after years of abuse if his looks like that after only 6 months ?!?

My BMI is currently 43 which means I’m “Severly Obese” (>35), not just “Obese” (30-35) which means I have to lose over 100lbs just to be considered “Overweight” (25 – 30) and that would be at the top of the range, not even the middle. To get to the top of the “Normal” range (18.5 – 25) I would need to lose 150 lbs, which is the reason for this challenge. Change starts NOW !

Okay, week one is done – now we need to step things up a bit more for week two, I’ll be happy with a two or three pound loss next week considering I’ll be away at a conference – but after that I am targeting for the three to four pound range until I lose fifty pounds … then slow and steady after that. For me, the big thing is to increase my aerobic exercises and stop the evening snacks!

Alright, week two is done and I will weigh-in tomorrow but likely have gained some weight (away at a conference for the week, catered meals, blah, blah, blah). To motivate me to lose the weight, instead of a ‘contract’ commitment on something like the stickk site I simply booked a follow-up appointment with my family doc. In mid-January I will have a follow-up with weigh-in and full blood workup – it is a true motivator for me as I am essentially competing with myself to get better results. So, that means I now have about seven weeks during the most “temptation laden” time of year to lose a goal objective of twenty pounds!

Week four – time sure flies by, I’m still catching up from my weight gain after a week long conference two weeks ago but finally feeling like I’m back on track. Goal for me is to lose four or five pounds this week – also increasing my aerobic activity after having joined a local running group
