Flutinkat, it appears that some of your miles were carried over from April. I’m wondering if you may have logged your miles together. It appears that you walked 7.5 today (May 1) and 5 miles yesterday (April 30). The reason I looked was because nothing appeared under your Recent Activity for the first day of the challenge.

I don’t carry my mileage over – I log for each day. I do walk that much – I spend many hours on my feet at my job, I don’t drive unless I have to and usually walk at least 5 miles on campus each day (in addition to recreational walks a few times a week). I log everything on the pedometer. If it’s carrying over, it’s not because I intend to. I usually don’t have time to pay attention to the challenges except when weekly results come out, so I apologize for not seeing this earlier.

I hope you didn’t feel that I was questioning whether you really walk all those miles. I’ve noticed that you do a lot of walking. I apologize if you felt that I questioned that. At first it seemed that you may have grouped your miles for the 2 days together. But all I was trying to say is that the miles that appear on your exercise blog for the last 3 days don’t match up with the total miles that appear in the competition. Since the difference is 5 miles, a logical explanation would be that it counted the 5 miles from April 30. I’ve experienced my share of glitches with this site so I can attest to the fact that it’s not always perfect.

I’m new here. I don’t have a pedometer so I only count the miles I walk for a workout ( usually on the treadmill), not the miles I walk all day long. Are we supposed to log all the miles we walk all day or is it just workouts that count towards the total?

Any walking you do counts. If you get a pedometer it will probably make for easier tracking of non-workout walks.

Thanks for the clarification. I posted this on your wall, but for the benefit of everyone: I’ve contacted DB. They have yet to get back to me, but I’m hoping they will fix it.

I don’t have a pedometer either… I usually just use google maps to calculate the distance I’ve walked, but obviously I have no idea how much walking I do indoors (though as a student I’m pretty sedentary aside from my walks.)

I got a pedometer for Mother’s Day! We’ll see if it makes much difference for me. I don’t think I walk a whole lot other than my treadmill walks though.

Omron pedometers are heavy duty and reliable – I wear mine all day, every day. It actually motivates me to walk a couple of extra miles a day.
