When you click the “i ate this” button, a small window pops up where you add the servings that you ate. To the right of that box is a drop down menu. Use the menu to select a different day. Topic: Diet and Nutrition / Nutrition Log |

Yes! My mom has an AMAZING nonstick pan. I believe it’s made by a danish brand. It’s composition is different than most nonstick pans because it can go in the dishwasher and it doesn’t give off any of the chemicals that some people worry about. I can make an omelette in it without using any oil. The brand is Scanpan. Topic: Diet and Nutrition / Oiless Fried Eggs?? |

I’m a student at the University of Pennsylvania trying to navigate all of the free food and get fit. Since I stopped doing ballet a few years ago, the pounds have been creeping so I decided it was time to get serious about my health. |

I used to do this all the time before I moved into my much smaller space in college. Now that you mention it, however, there are dance studios in my gym and I should probably start dancing again because I DID lose weight when I was dancing. For music, use anything you like. My playlist had lots of dance, electronica, hip-hop and house music. Topic: Fitness and Exercise / Dance for exercise |

I’m 5’3” and I weigh just over 120 now. I am still working on losing 5 more pounds. It’s hard being short because I have to eat 1200 – 1400 calories on a day when I don’t exercise to maintain my weight. It wouldn’t be as difficult if the food available in restaurants/the grocery store weren’t portioned out for people who are (A) men and (B) at least 4” taller. I find that it’s all about realizing that it’s ok to eat less food than friends who are 5’6”. Also, I try to stick to eating foods that are minimally processed or from the earth. They tend to offer fewer calories but more nutrition than processed foods. |

Can you explain what you mean by higher reps and minimal reps between sets. This sounds contradictory to me. |

I eat a bowl of oatmeal every day for breakfast with 2 tbsp ground flax seed. I don’t normally add any sweeteners because I like the taste of plain and I don’t really have a kitchen in my dorm so it makes preparing complicated oatmeal difficult. I just microwave it. If I need something sweet I’ll add a bit of honey. To make it extra filling, top it with sliced almonds or another nut of choice. Just don’t go overboard. Again, instant oatmeal is a waste of money. It’s filled with extra sugar and salt. Topic: Diet and Nutrition / Oatmeal for Breakfast |

When I fall off the healthy eating wagon…like yesterday, I think of what Alfred told the young Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins: “Why do we fall, Bruce? So that we may learn to pick ourselves up.” Topic: Motivation and Support / Motivational poems and quotes |

You also want to reduce the amount of food that you need to feel full. Make sure you drink WATER while eating so that you feel satiated. Sometimes dehydration can make you feel like you need food, when in actuality, you need fluid. If you need a snack, stay away from simple sugars because eating these will probably leave you hungrier instead of satisfied. Opt for veggies or protein. |

Some more I like… “Let us strive to improve ourselves, for we cannot remain stationary; one either progresses or retrogrades.”
“If we all did the things we are capable of, “They can because they think they can.” “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Topic: Motivation and Support / Motivational poems and quotes |

Technically (...legally), I shouldn’t be posting, but being in college, I am surrounded by a “drinking culture.” Answer: Red Wine (In moderation) If drinking somewhere where wine is taboo…I would recommend forgoing mixed drinks. I like things straight up, but that’s my taste. Consider saving money by ordering drinks every other weekend or saving calories by eating conservatively the day you plan to drink. If you are planning on going to the gym the next day, expect not to go. Alcohol really demotivates! Topic: Diet and Nutrition / Drinking Alcohol |
