I hope you read this even though your orginal question was posted in January. Please beware of creatine AND whey protein! I have had massive problems with kidney stones. Three different urologists have confirmed that the creatine and whey protein I was taking was the original source of my problems. Now, I’m prone to huge kidney stones for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, the stuff was really working and making me incredibly strong. I’ve switched to a nearly all vegetarian diet to control the kidney stones and have had the pleasant suprise that my cholesterol has plummeted as well. I use Life"s Basics Hemp protein to make up for the lack of protein with a vegetarian diet. For a few months now, I’ve been using essential amino acids (with my urologists" blessing) and it works great. Although I’m not as strong as before, I’m close and losing fat at the same time and I NEVER get sore no matter how heavy I lift. I use a product from Champion Nutrion called Amino Shooter Core which you dissovle in water and drink before and during your workout. It’s fairly cheap. I don’t know if there are other competing brands out there. I got the idea from a recommendation in an article in Men’s Health magazine. Hope this helps and PLEASE be careful with the creatine and whey protein. |

cdn_geek , yes I was getting plenty of water and I had never had kidney stones prior. Interesting that when I try to contribute valuable information that I got from a UROLOGIST, actually 3 different urologists, I’m labled a “chicken little”. Creatine did make me increadibly strong. It was nothing short of miraculous how well it worked. I can understand how great that can feel and people tend to overlook the bad when they discover something that makes them improve so fast and so much. Unfortunately, those who are not doctors but profess the safety of something they lack the expertise to make definitive statements about are not willing to look at both sides. If I’m chicken little, they are burying their own heads in the sand. Buy the time they come to the same realization I did, it will be too late. It’s a shame that I have to be attacked by these ignorant folks, but I shouldn’t be that surprised-the gym is full of ignorant people…. PS, through hard work and a sane diet, I am now nearly as strong as I was on creatine without it so, it turns out creatine is a waste of money as well. |

Geez. I just looked at the profile of the schmuck that called me chicken little. That weakling certainly has no business advising anyone on how to get strong…. |

I’ve been talking to a guy at the gym who has made tremendous gains lately. He is using a new form of Creatine called Kre-alkaline. In reading online about it, I noticed that one of the benefits of it is that it doesn’t breakdown into creatinine as easily and therefore has a reduced risk of liver damage and KIDNEY STONES. Kidney problems with Creatine Monohydride or the regular creatine is definately known to cause Kidney Stones in some people. If you are considering a Creatine supplement, you may want to do some due diligence and check out this new Kre product. It also doesn’t seem to give a person that bloated look that other creatine users get… |

chaddukes: I never said anything about liver problems. Again, it seems folks don’t actually read what I write so I’ll summarize: Creatine works great. It worked amazingly for me. It also caused HUGE kidney stones and caused the chemistry in my kidney to change such that I am now PRONE to kidney stones. My UROLOGISTS (that’s plural for those who aren’t reading my posts) told me the condition was caused by the creatine. I was taking it according to the directions. I emailed my urologist this week and asked him if I was an “outlyer” and he indicated that creatine and kidney stones have an established cause and effect relationship and that it is a frequent topic of discussion at the urology conferences he attends. So, all that being said: those of you who are contending creatine is harmless OBVIOUSLY lack the expertise to make those claims. Buyer beware! |

Has anyone out there tried either of these supplements from “Controlled Labs”? White flood is a preworkout supp and Purple Wraath is a during workout amino acid supplement. Topic: Supplements / White Flood & Purple Wraath |

chaddukes: I’m sure you wouldn’t mind citing your evidence that Creatine is, “the most researched supplement on earth”. Right? Please enlighten us……. |

Markreinecke, Yes. I do lift extremely heavy weight and “bash” myself regularly. Thanks for the input. I’ve had good luck with “Amino Shooter Core” and I rarely get sore using it but though I’d try something different… Rhengste32, I am extremely concious of my diest and am mostly vegetarian. As my post indicated I was really looking for input from people who have use these two products. Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. Topic: Supplements / White Flood & Purple Wraath |

Usage report: Well I’ve now tried both White Flood & Purple Wraath twice. My experience so far has been very positive. I have been stacking them. I have been pleasantly surprised with White Flood. I was kind of expecting it would make me jittery or hyped up and it hasn’t had that effect at all. It does seem to keep me from fading 1.5 hours into an intense lifting workout like I used to do and that is precisely what I bought it for. I’ve been taking it about 5:00 and hiiting the gym from 5:30 to 6:00 and working out till 7:00 to 7:30. Both nights I went to bed at 9:30 and didn’t experience any sleeplessness or trouble waking up in the morning, both things I was worried about. I did not experience any of the tingling sensation that others have gotten and that the package warns of. On the other hand, I didn’t experience any more “pump” than normal, nor any increased vascularity, both of which the product touts. Of course, I’m basing my experience on a sampling of two workouts. I’ll post more in a few more days for an update. As for the Purple Wraath, I wasn’t expecting to feel anything. I haven’t been feeling any soreness the next day and this is exactly the same benefit I was getting from Amino Shooter Core so I’m satisfied that this stuff is at least equivalent. Usage report update: I’ve now used both products 5 times. Today I did an arms workout and I went ballistic!… I lifted 66,550 pounds in about and hour and a half. The pump was impressive and I was taking almost every excercise to failure on the final set of each. This was the first time I’ve felt the “tingle”. It’s really mild and it didn’t really hit me until after I got home. It may have been happening while I was at the gym but I was so in the zone that I didn’t notice it. Here’s how I’m using the stuff…. I put about 1 scoop of White Flood in a small empty water bottle with about 6 ounces of water and shake it up. It takes a lot of shaking to get it to fully dissolve. I drink this about 20 minutes before going to the gym. With me I take a bottle of Vitamin Water 10 Energy version that I have taken a few sips out of to make room to add the powder. I add half a scoop of White Flood and two scoops of Purple Wrath. Again, it takes a lot of shaking to mix it up. I start sipping at this as soon as I arrive at the gym and continue taking small sips throughout the workout. About 3/4 of the way into my workout, I have about an inch left in the bottom of the bottle and I fill the bottle up at the drinking fountain and shake it up to mix the new diluted solution. I continue drinking it for the rest of my workout and the cardio session. I believe that what I’m doing with these two compounds would be called “stacking”. I do this four days a week including the day that I swim HIIT sprints. So far, so good….. Topic: Supplements / White Flood & Purple Wraath |

timbahwolf, I got your message on my Journal. Thanks for that. I do have a a couple of questions – Is it cool to use white flood 4 days a week indefinately, or do I need to cycle off of it after a while. Also, I wasn’t expecting it to make me stronger but I am definately getting stronger since I started. Is this normal? I have the lemonade flavor of white flood and the grape flavor of purple wraath. Neither tastes very good but I didn’t buy it for the taste….:) I generally eat just a little bit before I work out and I still get the tingle but it’s barely noticeable. Am I stacking these correctly? Thanks for the input. Topic: Supplements / White Flood & Purple Wraath |

Usage report number 3. I’ve now been using both products for about a month and a half. I cycled off for a week last week and started up again today. I haven’t had any problems at all with either of these and I’m sold on them. I can recommend them without reservations. My wife is now taking a single scoop of white flood before she runs and has been gaining distance and stamina during her runs….. Topic: Supplements / White Flood & Purple Wraath |

mmcari, Can’t figure out how to PM you on here. I’m wondering how in the world you get 50,000 pounds out of that body weight workout? That’s pretty killer. Are you holding hundreds of pounds of plates while you do this stuff? Topic: Fitness Challenges / Most Weight Lifted | 2010 by rattler201 |

“For crunches and what not, I usually put a little less than 1/3 of my body weight, same with leg raises, etc. I’m not sure where I got that from, but it’s what I have used for a while now. So I’m around 160, I usually put about 50lbs”….. That’s what I’m doing also…. Topic: Fitness Challenges / Most Weight Lifted | 2010 by rattler201 |
