I’ve heard that the only reason to avoid canned goods is the large amount of sodium. Kellydigital, is there a reason other than this to avoid canned vegetables? |

On days where I have 4 categories for my Calorie Breakdown (Total Fat, Total Carbs, Protein, Other), the key under the pie chart has the fourth category name clipped, i.e. it’s not possible to read what it says. I can use deduction to figure it out, but figured I would report this bug. The browser used is Firefox 3.0.1 for Windoze. |

My goal is to gain weight. I feel I’m too lean, enough to the point where I am not concerned about losing fat, but rather to put on more “muscle weight”. It’s tough, as if I integrate lifting with cardio, my metabolism shoots up and, because I apparently don’t eat enough, my weight plummets. I created a group before I fully understood the concept of Gyminee. I would like to delete the group, as I am the sole member and have changed the group name to “please delete this group”. How do I go about do so? Thanks. Topic: Support/Help / Deleting a Group |

I’ve seen numerous sources recommend eat 5+ smaller meal per day, yet the Meal Planner seems convinced that the traditional 3 + 2 snacks is the only way to go. I would like to see a way to customize the list if, for nothing else, as a way to organize when and what to eat. Topic: Feature Discussion / More Meals |

I recently supposedly achieved an A rating for my exercise status. However, underneath the letter grade the text, “7 days exercised this past week. ” appears. I don’t believe I exercised 7 days this past week, as is shown on my calendar where the following scheme is display (and is correct): 4th Mon: Weights Today is the 11th. How is this calculated to my having exercised “7 days this week”? Thanks. Topic: Support/Help / On Exercise Status grade |

I don’t estimate, though the exercises that I do of this type are limited solely to push-ups. In my case, I would only enter a number for the first field and leave the second blank. Topic: Support/Help / Bodyweight exercises |

A good speed isn’t absolute but rather pinned to your current fitness level, age, gender, etc. I’ve read a few places that you should focus on achieving your target heart rate (THR) in determining what an appropriate speed is. THR = ((HR max x HR rest) × %Intensity) + HRrest where Intensity should follow the ranges of HR max is maximum heart rate as professionally determined (I like to use 180, though this will vary) So, from your resting heart rate of 72bpm and assuming average fitness level (we’ll say 65% intensity), your target heart rate would be (180bpm-72bpm) x 65% + 72bpm = 142bpm Personally, I don’t gauge my heart rate but instead try to compete with what I ran when I was younger. You could also check the times from a local 5k for your age group and adjust as appropriate both in lowering the time (because pushing to the winners’ times might be way too fast a pace) and distance (account for running at a faster pace if running less than 5k and a gentler pace if running more). I have noticed a few people on this forum wondering how to record push-ups, namely, what to put in the ”_ lbs” column. It would be nice to have an option to disable this second field for exercises where the field isn’t applicable. Topic: Feature Discussion / Weightless exercises |

If it motivates you anymore to implement it StephenB, I also agree. The current setup is awkward, as there’s no way to directly reply to the message and no central repository to keep track of a “conversation”. Topic: Feature Discussion / Emails/Messages sent from GymBuddies |

Regarding the forum, I would like to see a way to subscribe to a thread internally within Gyminee. The current setup of using RSS seems unnecessary. Also, and please let me know if I’ve been missing the button to do this, but it would be useful to be able to see all of the threads in which I have interacted, much like a traditional web forum. It doesn’t look like you’re recording timestamps for when foods are entered, but I think a useful feature would be to log when foods were entered and eventually use that data to display at what points in the day certain aspects of a users’ nutrition are consumed. For example, I’m well aware that most of my protein isn’t consumed until (at the earliest) lunchtime. By having a graph or even the data to compare one day’s rate of protein consumed versus the previous day (or an average of the last week), I can determine if I need to increase my rate of consumption so as to not be required to binge on protein with the meals later in the day. The first step in accomplishing this would probably be to start logging the times that food is entered. By default, the entered time is the time consumed, but allow a field for a user to enter the time consumed for those that only get to log their food once per day. I lifted weights in high school for athletics but never took to supplements (as did some other athletes, namely football players) because of their seeming unnatural. I started lifting again, quite a few years after high school and have gotten the chance to research supplements a bit more. I’ve read of some of the controversy and dangers of creatine, but many seem to advocate it. As I was hesitant to take anything in the first place, I thought I should take a protein supplement (whey) at the very least if, for nothing else, to repair what “damage” I had done by lifting. What has kept me from taking creatine (or casein, a dairy-based slower digesting supplement) are the precautions. Are there any warnings I should be aware about regarding whey protein? I’m unable to find anything negative regarding it, if used properly (i.e. max 1 serving/day and only after lifting). Topic: Supplements / On the Dangers of Supplements |
