I put mine on my watch band. (I take the watch off and put on my HRM.) When I put my watch back on, there it is!

Go to Youtube, Search "Kettlebell swings. That is all you need to start. If you have an Itouch/ Iphone, search for the apps Pushup/ pullup/ crunch/ squat. These are body weight exercises that will kick your butt!
If buying used equipment you would be better off with a barbell or dumbbell. These are adjustable, (Most Kettlebells are fixed weight) cheaper, and a larger variety of exercises you can do.
Google Dan Johns book “From the Ground Up”. You can usually find a free download of this book and it will take you far in home barbell training.

The entire point of the book is to shatter fitness “beliefs” That are now taken as fact.
tyreegiles : In his book he debates the “calorie” as being the most efficient way to track nutrient intake. the “Calorie” was invented in the 1800’s by burning food under a flame and measuring the heat. Is that how are bodies actually use food?
cccc : The Pizza is on his once per week “Refeed day”, to keep his metabolism from slowing down.
If you don’t like his methods, don’t do them. The whole point is don’t believe the dogma you are fed in gym/ magazines/ Internet. Much of it is not based on any science.

Books/ Resources:
1) Starting Strength
2) Stronglifts.com
3) Minimalist Training by Jason Ferrugia
Lift to get bigger, stronger. Use diet to lose weight. Do cardio for conditioning, not fat loss. (It does not burn as many calories as you think. Too much and it becomes catabolic.)
Yes you can build muscle and burn fat. The closer you get to your genetic potential, the harder these two become.

For old guys, like me, many of these ideas aren’t new:
1) Restricted carbs/ calories with a re-feed day. (Vince Gironda ’50’s)
2) Short, intense workouts. (Arthur Jones/ Mike Mentzer/ Ellington Darden. 60’s to present)
3) Exercise just prior or shortly after meals. (Big in 1800’s)
Ferris has just shown their results with scientific studies and bundled them together into a easy to follow package.
Wedzir has the Bruce Lee mindset. “Take what you can use, discard the rest.” That is EXACTLY why I bought the book.

45 minutes strength training 3x per week. 45 minutes Cardio 3x per week. Don’t know that it’s ideal, but it is what I have time for!

If you have an Iphone/I touch there are great bodyweight workout apps. Pushups, crunches, squats, pullups. You can do any/ all in a modified version.

I have tried some of the “thermogenic” supplements in the past. All the stimulants just made me shaky and want to lay down. Purely personal observation.

whatever you buy, see if you can get a sample first. Try it, see how it tastes, and how it sits on your stomach. Once you find a good one, there you go. I don’t think any are that much better than the rest.

Brad Pillon’s book “How much Protein” shows that post workout shakes don’t really do that much. At any given time you have 100-150 gm’s of amino acids in your blood stream/ liver just from cellular turnover. So there is not an immediate need for protein. Now if you are hungry, or it is a scheduled meal, go for it! I drink 2 protein shakes per day. I just don’t get hung up on “timing” them.
