So does anyone know about 0% fat greek yogurt??? I know he said no dairy with the exception of 2 tbsps cream with coffee and cottage cheese… Also, he mentions only eating 5-10 almonds because of the calories but he mentions they are a good source of magnesium!? Which is it, yea or nah?

Ok, so when Tim suggests eating unsweetened plain yogurt on page 111 where he is discussing “balancing bacteria for fat loss” don’t you guys think we can eat a small amount of plain unsweetened greek yogurt ???

As to the protein shakes, Tim mentions his dad had to add a shake in the morning to make sure he had enough protein shake to make sure he got enough protein in the 1 hour window after waking… So I agree they are ok, but not the bars.

Back to the almonds, on page 92 he said if you are traveling and had to eat a “bag” of raw almonds just make an effort not to eat no starch for the rest of your trave time. So what is a “bag?” Is that an ounce? What do you guys thing? Also, what is “the rest of your travel time?” Do you think he means that day? And if that meal he mentions would be ok (a “bag” of nut and a chicken salad) then why does he say only ever eat 5-10 almonds on page 98? ANDwhy the heck would 2 tablespoons of almond butter before bed of ok (page 88)???

Ok, got it! : ) Thanks liha for breaking it down for me. What you said makes more sense. How are you doing 2 out of 3 meals? I am trying to get everything figured out and start stricktly as soon as I have a better understanding (and new food supplies.) Also, I will have trouble eating every 4 hours with my job. Working on figuring that out too…

So, liha (and everyone else), are you doing 2 “lunches” or just 3 meals a day?

liha, I also get up at 5 and am in bed by 9! I ate 3 eggs in the car on the way to the gym. Cottage cheese after workout at 7:30… Will have lunch at noon and then dinner about 5:30-6. I have no other room for more meals! We will see if this produces any results….

I so I been doing this plan for a week and I am to my first DGD day. I have not been totally strict as I had some 0% fat plain greek yogurt a few times, some nuts, fruit, cornbread once, and worst of all chocolate! I had to get some of the foods not allowed out of the house and now I am ready to start strictly tomorrow. However, in my “hybrid” week I have lost 2.6 pounds, 1.3%, and 2.5 inches. I’m excited, this is really not so difficult to do. It is not that different than how I was eating on a normal day. Just the yogurt, fruit, and nuts… I am ok with having them once a week if I have results. I have cleaned my pantry and hopefully people will quit bringing crap to the office now that the holidays are over! So hope lots of you are going to join me in kicking off this awesome plan in this new year. Happy New Year to all!

So interesting little finding … I did a milder DGW day. I drank 5 or more liters of water (my norm is 4). I had normal breakfast. Then first lunch was plain greek yogurt and grapefruit. After that I had a larger than normal lunch/dinner with dessert included. Later I had a lovely decaff latte and a small chocolate bar. Funny thing is, I did not gain at all! Last week I was not good about drinking more water than normal and I ate more simple carbs like bread/cookies. Last week I gained back almost all I had lost over the week! I feel much better this “morning after” and still had plenty of treats to satisfy my boredom/cravings.

So where is everyone? Have we quit this slow carb thing? I have not quit, plugging right along but because my hormones are so screwed up I have not been as happy with the results. I literally have had 3 periods in the month I have been doing this plan. So, since Tim said to ignore the scale when you are on you period I have had barely any, if any, accurate readings! I am attempting to keep a positive attitude and keep on the plan. I have done much milder cheat days than the first one, using many of the damage control tips. ( I am seeking medical help for my horrid hormone problems but not really wanting to take hormone replacement therapy. I am getting second and third opinions.) I just wanted to see if anyone out there is still doing this with me!?

I am pretty discouraged. I have been doing this diet for 8 weeks now and as of today I have gained a pound, lost 5 inches, and BF is the same. I know I have serious hormones issues(getting second & third opinions currently) but good Lord! I see you all loosing and I want to pull my hair out!

Becca,
Thanks for the encouragement! I went online and put in what I ate today (which is not my normal) and I put in what I will eat tomorrow(more my normal). I also opened up my profile so my body & nutrition information can be viewed by all. This will be helpful to me, I am sure. The reason I had not done this is that I had tracked my intake and exercise for three and a half years and was pretty weary of it. I thought this plan was going to free me from that by just following certain food & portions. Since it is not getting me to my goal, I will begin to track again. I am glad to have the accountability and advise, which I did not have before on my own. As far as what else I measure, I do take the circumference measurements recommended as well as body fat. I have lost 5 inches but body fat is virtually the same. Exercise is not great right now. I have definitely done more in the past but I am rehabbing a knee injury. However, my job (physical therapist assistant) is very active. I don’t sit at all at work all day. I walk, lift, push, pull, and demonstrate exercises all day long, lol. Ironic, since I am restricted to swimming for my own cardio right now! I do swim at least 3 times a week and do resistance training at least 3 times a week as well. So, I will “keep on keeping on” and log my food and body info : )! Thanks again!

Oh and Jeremy, I have a Taylor lithium scale (BIA). I realize it doesn’t make sense I have actually gained a pound, lost 5 inches, and body fat has varied but within a 1 to 1.5 % range. That is probably the margin of error for the scale! Thanks, for offer to look at diet log. If you do you will notice some commercial salad dressing scheduled for 2-21. I want to say I have not been eating this the past 8 weeks I am just bored to death. I had been eating very similarly to this but with broccoli or peas instead of salad. Thanks in advance for your consideration!
