Hey, I’ve been hearing lots about calorie restriction recently. Anyone out there try it? I’m looking into it, but I’m curious how people manage to get enough protein, fats and other nutrients required for a healthy body? Any suggestions would be great! |

Calorie restriction? You mean the idea of limiting your calories in order to lose weight? Or am I missing something here? Because limiting your calorie intake is the key ingredient in any successful diet. |

Yes, I suppose, but the overall goal is not weight loss (while it is an added benefit) it is to improve my overall health and reduce the stress on my organs and the rest of my body. This is what I’m referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie_restriction and it’s a lifetime commitment to minimizing calorie intake and maximizing nutrient intake. I’m just hesitant to commit to it without some more information. |

This is the “longevity theory” that caloric restriction will increase life span. Obviously all controlled lab studies have been done on rodents. They have looked at groups/ cultures who have longer lifespans and found the elderly do not eat very much. |
