Hi guys – I’m looking for new ideas for snacks so I’d love to hear what you all have. I’m just so tired of vege sticks with hummus or rice cakes and tuna! I prefer foods that are mostly natural and unprocessed – that’s why no protein bars (and yes I realise rice cakes are processed). Thanks in advance! |

Ideally, I view snacks as 150 – 200 calorie mini meals because I try to include vegetables and/or fruit and a lean protein source and well, they look like smaller versions of what I typically eat. So, in my instance it may include a piece of grilled chicken breast and a heated portion of whatever veggie side dish I made the night before. Then again, it could include a mini portion of stir-fry shrimp left over from dinner the night before. However, if you’re looking for more of a grab and go type of snack, here are a few options: - Single size servings of low fat cottage cheese with fresh fruit |

Dried fruits and nuts are always a good change and tasty too. although, make sure not to go overboard, as nuts are loaded with fats (but are healthy fats…)! make sure to stick to the reccomended serving size! Dried fruits and nuts are a great way of getting vitamins and proteins and an energy pick-up in the middle of the day! |

I love Greek yogurt with flax and berries, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter with pretty much anything, and oatmeal with pumpkin puree and almonds. |

My best snack: I eat 1 oz of nuts and drink a glass of water. If I am still hungry, I drink another glass of water. At that point, I decide I am not hungry anymore. I know that sounds like I am being a smart a$$, but I really mean it. Try it. |

I love having an Athenos Greek yogurt (100 cals for the strawberry or peach, 160 cals for the honey [which is awesome]), with half a serving of strawberries (23 cals), half a serving of raspberries (32 cals), and half a serving of blackberries (30 cals). It is so good and fills you up for quite a while with only 185 to 245 cals, and some good protein. |

This week I switched from prepacked yogurt cups to eating half a cup of Greek yogurt (on the advice of other DB users!) with half a cup of fruit in it. No fat, lots of protein (around 12.5g for a half cup), less sodium than the prepacked cups. The creaminess of it also lets you convince yourself you’re cheating when you’re really not :) and it’s much more filling. Another easy one is a slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter (often with a banana). Have to plan around that though because its a bit high on the fat & carb scale. |

My current favorite is cottage cheese, honey and blueberries (use deep fried blueberries, take them out of the freezer ten minutes before preparing your snack – semifrozen, very delicious) Eat on (but healthy), Oliver My 2 cents, Oliver // The K-Plan // Healthier. Fitter. Slimmer. |

What else is good, kind of along the lines of @oliver, is putting some frozen fruit in the greek yogurt. I use a few frozen strawberries and a few frozen blueberries. If you let it sit a few minutes before eating the yogurt around the fruit starts to freeze a little bit. It’s quite fantastic. |

I swear by Turkey Jerky. 80 cals per ounce, 30 g of protein per ounce, 1g? of fat. It rocks |

So, I just discovered these, and they are great for a snack. They are dried green peas. That’s it. One kind I got are just lightly salted and the other is hot wasabi flavored. They are fantastic. 6g of protein per serving, 120 calories and low in fat. I’m eating some now actually with some cottage cheese for an evening snack. |

Try to thnk of snacks as just another meal, so eat what you would for a true meal. It might be smaller in quantity depending on your hunger, but use the same foods. Buy a dehydrator and makes some homemade jerky |
