hi everyone, im looking for some help as im completely new at this and i really don’t know where to start!? im pretty skinny i guess and would like to build up some muscle and generally tone up a little, lol im not looking to go crazy looking like arnie or anything but yeah to build myself up some would be nice and im motivated enough to keep at it…

anyhoo im just wondering where to begin really.. i have dumbells at home, not sure if that’s enough to get started anyway im realyl keen to begin this now so some questions..

is a gym membership mandatory? what kind of diet should i be keeping to get myself a bit bigger? how often should i eat? what about the protein drink things.. should i be looking at getting some of these!? what are good routine/workout’s i can do? how often should i work out?

i appreciate any help and advice you guy’s (and gal’s) can give me.. thanks!

Welcome! Dumbbells are absolutely enough (along with your own body) to get you started. I would suggest checking out the workouts on Dailyburn or picking up a copy of Weight Training for Dummies to get started to learn basic form and learn some routines to get you going.

Growing muscle mass is about eating more calories than your body needs to provide fuel for the growing muscle. That isn’t a license to eat junk. Another great book would be the Eat Clean Diet for Men.

Good luck!
