I have been out of training for 3months (Thai Boxing) due to a Knee Injury but I’m going back to training next week. Though not Thai Boxing for another few months… Normally I train at a boxing style gym (bags, a ring, medicine balls etc)and some free weights where all my training has be circuit training, bag work and sparing. I have not used machine and benches etc before but have joined a leisure gym to build up muscle and cut down on weight. .. so now I’m interested in doing some weights whilst the physio has given me a workout for my knee. I like the look of “Body for Life” http://dailyburn.com/workout_programs/21078-Bod… Would this be the best place for me to start? I consider myself fit and strong though having not been a weight training this looks like a good place to start for the cardio days I will be using a Elliptical Machine and also boxing. |

Hey 0wen…Welcome to Daily Burn! I always think the best workout is one you will stick to. Personally I have always really like Body for Life for new and returning people as a basic workout and would highly recommend the book by Bill Phillips. The obvious here is be sure to take things really careful with that knee and make sure you are doing what your doctor recommends. The last thing you want to to really sideline your self by making a recovering injury worse. That said, to really cut down you will need to pay very close attention to your diet. Most people underestimate how much of a role this really plays in fitness. My personal belief is that 80% of your success will come from nutrition! Logging my daily food intake in Daily Burn has really helped me stay focused. It is a bit of work to do, but well worth it. Good luck! |
