Hey guys… I’ll be travelling like crazy next few weeks, and want to keep my gym routine going. For cardio, I plan to walk/run/bike in the local areas. A few hotels don’t actually have weights in the gym, so I was wondering if anyone knew any decent body-weight only or other exercises I can do in my room? Aside from pushups, crunches, planks, etc… Anything fun and interesting? TIA! |

You can get a resistance tube. I’ve bought a good one for about 15$, and it’s really easy to travel with! With this, you can do pretty much all exercices you would to with a dumbell. It is as effective if you get the right resistance and use it properly. |

Are you traveling by car or plane? When I have to fly I have a set of resistance bands I take with me. They work well and are easy to pack. If I go by car a kettlebell is a great work out partner. You can do a great fully body routine with just a kettle bell and body weight. |

Thanks for some great ideas all! Anyone know where I can get some decent resistance bands? I’m actually leaving for London tomorrow am, so any shops in London would be great, otherwise I’ll pick them up back in the states next weekend. Meanwhile – pushups, burpees and dips it is! Wish me luck in not slipping too far this week… |

I really like this workout when I’m short on time and equipment: http://dailyburn.com/workout_programs/27955-Who… |

pushups, burpees and dips are good, dont forget your core though as well. do some plank holds, toe taps etc. also do some lunges/squats. have a good trip :) |

@rishishah, here are some bodyweight programs you can utilize during your travels: http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2008/11/cir… http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2009/06/tur… http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2009/04/pos… http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2008/10/on-… http://catapultfitness.blogspot.com/2008/10/bod… Susan |

another vote for pushups and burpees. Doing 20 burpes then 19 then 18 etc all the way down to 1 with short rest periods in between is a great workout when your away. |

If you want some really good exercises bands, check out exercise bands from http://www.ironwoodyfitness.com/. Pricey but cheaper than most bands of that quality. I got a set of the Intermediate Package of 41 inch bands. I mostly use them with barbells but when I travel I use them for all sorts of resistance work. I bought the cheap set and used them for about a year but even the “heavy” ended up rather easy. |

Doorway pullups are another option…but make sure that the door hinges can handle your weight! |
