How many hours do you guys spend at the gym per session and do any of you guys do 2 sessions per day ?

1 hour – 4 times a week with trainer – however am moving towards adding another hour of cardio to each day – initially starting with an extra session per week and working my way up. Likely the added cardio will be outdoors walking rather than more time spent indoors. Good for the soul.

I work out 6 days/week. Each workout is 70 minutes or less. I get in an intense workout in a short time frame. So far the results have been great.

Also 4 workouts have a 12 minute intense cardio warmup, and the other 2 have a 20 minute intense cardio warmup.

I’ll likely be bumping up the cardio soon to 20 minutes/day.

I don’t go to the gym.

3 times/week x 45-60min strength training
2×90 minute swim practice with team (usually incorporating HIIT to make use of the extremely limited pool time we have! Our school doesn’t have our own pool, so other swimmers are doing 2 hr/4 times a week – but we beat them in competitions, so…)
2×60min swim on my own (slightly longer, less fast intervals)
One long run (~60 min) + one or two short runs (20-25 minutes) throughout the week. I’m going to increase the amount that I run now that the swim season is coming to a close.

I go to the gym 5 times a week. Two of my sessions are lifting, and I am there for a total of 45 minutes for each session (which includes warm up and showering). The three other sessions are swimming, and they are anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how many days removed from lifting I am.

I try to live by two “laws:” Pareto’s Law (the 80/20 Principle) and Parkinson’s Law. With Pareto’s Law, it suggests that you will achieve 80% of your productivity from 20% of your inputs, and vice-versa; so, I simply try and focus on what that 20% of inputs is, and ignore the rest. Parkinson’s Law suggests that if you set a goal or deadline, you will take as much time as you allot yourself to complete it; so, if you create a short timeframe, you will get your goal done more quickly (and it won’t have bad results if tied together with Pareto’s Law).

I have given myself ridiculous fitness goals twice in my life, and in each instance, I have lost about 30 lbs. in a month. Admittedly, I am a mesomorph, so my body is designed to respond dramatically to ever I do, be that exercise or sloth. In addition, I went to great extremes, each time, with diet, exercise, and supplements (some that are probably not so good for me… nothing like steriods or similar, though… just stuff like Stacker).

This current time, I am lifting and having dramatic results, and swimming. In my third swimming session, I swam a mile, and that was coming off the couch for six months the week before; also, I had not really swam in over ten years (I used to be a competitive swimmer in high school, and I swam a bit in the Navy).

I think that it is easy to over train, so if you have some goals, focus on getting their efficiently and, more importantly, effectively.

About an hour/hour and a half 5-6 days a week. I usually take about 10-15 minutes of that though, to stretch at the end of my workout – always essential, even if I’m beat and just want to go home and eat dinner!

Most of my workouts are at home, although I do on occasion head to the gym to mix up my routine (take a spin class, power lift).

A typical home workout takes 25 – 30 minutes for circuits and 2x/week I add HIIT for an additional 20 min.

All in, including a spin class I exercise approx. 3 – 3.5 hours/week

Feb's Finests I Lost 5 Lbs! I Lost 5 Lbs!

I go for an hour, and then do a 30 min workout at home. But at the moment I’m just doing alot of cardio to cut down my fat.
Once I get back to a lower weight I’ll be adding in exercises to target muscles groups and that’ll add another 15ish mins to my gym time.

I used to go 2 hours once upon a fitter time…haha

Oh and I try to go 6 days a week.

And to reply to the 2 sessions part, usually my home work out and gym work out are seperated gym in the morning before I go to classes and home in the afternoon. When the weather is finer I also jog outdoors intead of doing the treadmill, so then that may be at a different time as well.

I horseback ride too a few days a week, those days I may not do my home workout

I go to the gym 5 days a week. One day is an hour of yoga with 30 min of cardio before class. The other four days I spend between 60 – 120 minutes with a minimum of 30 min. cardio. I always make sure to stretch for 15 minutes too.
My time spent in the gym usually varies depending on what my schedule looks like that day.

I work out at home. Typical week day is 30 to 45 minutes weight lifting, then it’s 30 to 40 minutes at the pool. If I have time (if woke up early enough), I’ll add 30 minutes of biking (home trainer at the moment), and then I go out and run for about 45 minutes. I usually add about 45 minutes of running in the evening.
So that’s about 2 to 3 hours.

During the weekend, when the weather is good (so not at the moment), I usually go for a longer bike ride (3 to 5 hours) and add an hour of running.

I work out at home, but typically my exercises last about 45 minutes on workout days, 30 minutes on cardio days.

I Did 1,000 Pushups! Fat Loser

3 days per week at home. I try to do 7-10 minutes of foam rolling followed by 10-15 min. of mobility exercises. Main workout is 60-75 min. lifting weights (mostly squats, deadlifts, power clean, bench press, seated press, dips, chin-ups, pull-ups). My plan is to do cardio as well but have not been sticking to it. When I do, I do DDR or NordicTrack inside and biking outside (when it is warm).

About 3-4 times per week or every other day for approximately an hour each time. 30 minutes of machine weights followed by 30 minutes of cardio (rowing + running/treadmill).

I’d probably get bored if I went any more often than that. So far I can’t complain with the results.

CARDIO: running – 30m / 3-5x’s a week and 60m / 1-2x’s a week

STRENGTH: recently added pushups, situps to the mix and spend about 30m for those each session.

GOAL: to spend as little time necessary for as much health/fitness possible.

Exercise is a means to an end for me. Altho, I admit I do enjoy the exercise when i’m doing it, there are bigger priorities that I seek to achieve at this stage in my life. as a “treat” I may go for a 25-50% longer run or strength training session, but ideally is to minimize time working out while maximizing my productivity in other goals/areas of my life.

At the gym:
3x week for 45 minutes strength, 20 min HIIT

At home:
3x week for 20-40 minutes for light off-day exercises. This is usually yoga or a workout video.

For me, I have been working primarily on weight loss with my result just shy of 70 lbs since September. My workout is 7 days a week in my home alternating between cardio (10 miles on recumbent bike) and pseudo circuit on my home gym with treadmill intervals. Each day is about 45-60 minutes in length including stretching/cool down.

3 X 90 to 120 minutes at the gym
2 or 3 X 120 minutes martial arts
Plus I try to do 30 minutes of cardio the days I don’t go to the gym or the dojo.

Wow, you guys work out a lot!

I’m doing 1h per day during weekdays. Weekends are usually off because I have to devote my time to other things.

Unfortunately, the weekend includes Fridays too, so that means I exercise 4 days per week, two days of lifting + cardio, and two days of pure cardio (I don’t want to punish my muscles with weight lifting everyday).

So far it’s been working out fine for me, though I do wish I could fit at least one hour in the weekend. In any case I find it’s a decent compromise between being a gym rat and having a social life :-)
