I’ve seen the commercials as well. I did some reading on the concept and it has something to do with the Bosu ball theory of stability training or something. The only thing is, if you live in a climate like mine (Duluth, MN – northern Minnesota where it’s freezing for six months) how good are these shoes when it’s -10 outside and the roads are full of ice? And if you’re only going to use these shoes at the fitness center, how good would they be while on the elliptical, treadmill or just lifting weights? The commercial only shows people in warm climates wearing shorts so my guess is they aren’t designed for northern weather. As with any new product like this I say wait six months and see what others say – especially with the price tag on these shoes.

a friend of mine bought the fitflops. It is a similar concept. She said her calves were sore the first two times she wore then and then she got used to it. Not sure if it is worth it. I would think you would have to walk farther and farther each day to make it worth anything.

My main concern with these shoes is more that you have to ease into using them. I’ve learned a bit about the problems that come from changing the way you walk from wearing a walking cast and then trying to go back to shoes – it takes time to adjust otherwise your leg muscles get sore, cramped, etc. This might not happen to everyone but if I were to start wearing these shoes I’d do it on a schedule. Basically only wear them for an hour one day, then a 2 hours, etc.

I have no idea how well they work but I want to try them on to see if they help with my foot alignment problems. I wonder how they would compare to other shoes too. I’m learning more about shoes these days and it really depends on foot type sometimes.

Reebok also has a similar shoe out, I noticed. I think next time I’m at the shoe store I might try them on and just see what they are like. With that price tag though I probably won’t ever buy them. I just bought an expensive pair of running shoes recently that I’m still trying to ease into.

The Sketchers Shape Ups are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I don’t feel that they work my legs more than regular shoes, but they feel so good that I look forward to walking. Tried them on the treadmill tonight, worked great.I heard MBT’s were better. I ordered a pair, but the sketchers feel better. The MBT’s do seem to work my legs more.

Walmart has a pair of Danskins for women cheap. Don’t know if they are as good, but the price is right.
