I’m glad you posted this because I’d love a workout program that was build for the soccer player. Experts? Something that would allow to play at a high level on the pitch. Thoughts? |

My neighbor plays professionally over here in Japan for FC Ryukyu and this is the off season workout he gave me. I’ve been doing it for a few weeks and am seeing great results. If you looking for the cut body rather than to bulk up, just do more reps less weight. I normally do 2 sets of 10 at 70% of my max, then my 3rd set I do 50% of my max and as many reps as possible. 5’1’’ at 166 is skinny, no doubt about it. To look “lean”, you first need muscle. Otherwise you’ll look like a skeleton. Bulk up to 190, cut back to 175-180 and you’ll be good to go. As far as workout, never apologize for “going heavy.” That’s great! Cutting is not about the weights, its about the food. To cut, you gotta cut calories, eat better foods, and really be meticulous about your calories and the breakdown. But this shouldn’t be an issue because you have no muscle to show that cut, so you gotta pack on the meat first. |

thank acconrad, geez, so i have to go to 190. so go to 190, then cut back to 175-180? how am i going to be able to cut back 10-15 pounds after i hit 190? im concerned about looking bulky/chubby – i hate that look, plus im not that tall (5’11), so im concerned the 190 isn’t a polished look and then even more concerned about trimming it down another 10 or 15. what do you think? |

I do this the workout above with a two day gap in between. So one week I will do it twice the next I will do it three time. On the off days I run a minimum of a 3K for now, because I normally have a footballsoccer practice on weds and Saturdays. Being in the military and being a PTL (physical training leader) for my unit I’ve had extensive training on the medicine and sports therapy, the reason you want to put a minimum of two days between strength training is because while lifting weights the muscles are basically being broken down. They don’t began to grew or get stronger until they are resting. |

I’ve done a little bit of research on this topic, since I’ve been looking for a good soccer training program. TotalSoccerFitness is one program that’s helped me out and a few other friends. My coach in college has adopted it as an official training program. Check it out and let me know what you think |
