Dear Daily Burn, When will Meal Snap be synchronized with Daily Burn? I’d be happy to purchase Daily Burn Pro to get the capability. Lee |

Hey. We don’t have a specific date for ‘when’, but in a future update we definitely plan on making Meal Snap a tool to quickly and easily add foods to DailyBurn food logs. |

Doh. I feel a tad silly now. I bought it thinking that the option to sync would have been in there as a basic function. At least that explains why I couldn’t figure out how! I do hope soon comes quickly. |

So, there’s no way to upload the Meal Snap calories directly to Daily Burn? :( |

As everyone here indicates, it is marketed in a way that implies it is an extension of DB so it is a big let down despite the modest cost. I certainly hope that along with final integration it provides a way for early adopters to migrate their legacy data into DB. I don’t understand why you brand MealSnap as being from DailyBurn when it cannot communicate with DB. I would have thought MindSpark the better association given that MealSnap actually encourages people to use Facebook to track their nutrition instead of DB? |

No update on this topic? I can only imagine that this is a feature that most DB users would want. |

Hi folks, Yep, Meal Snap is a product brought to you by DailyBurn. We have some great things in the works that go beyond this site, and as we grow, we hope to continue to bring you products that will enhance your healthy lifestyle. DailyBurn is about more than just tracking. DailyBurn is a lifestyle. We view health and fitness that way too. We have found that tracking detailed nutrition and exercise helps you achieve your goals, but there are plenty of people who want to take a photo diary of their food and that’s it. We have found that those are two different types of people – one type of person is ver focused, and one type of person looks at the larger picture and does not like to be so granular. We are happy to offer products for both types of people :) |

But why not add an optional sync to Daily Burn? I honestly thought this was an obvious feature, and quite surprised when I found out it didn’t work. It is a useless app to me without said feature, and I feel like I’ve been deceived out of a dollar. Which, I can live with, but it’s especially disappointing given just how cool and useful this app could be if syncing was enabled. I really don’t understand your post Kate Brown, why would anyone not want it to sync to this website? And if it’s an optional setting, that certainly wouldn’t hurt anyone. |

I agree with everyone here. MealSnap can identify the foods and grab the nutritional data… yet it cannot simply copy and paste that data in to your food log? Shocking really =/ Quite a let down from a website that seems to pride itself on making things simple for people. I guess i’ll be snapping meals while i’m out and updating them in my food log manually. |

Personally I set up a private protected twitter account and have MealSnap post there. At some point I’m going to pull that feed and use it to enter my caloric intake in various places (dailyburn/fitbit/some other stuff i’m working on). I’m sure as soon as I finish that, DB will integrate MealSnap. Btw, I love the withings integration, can’t wait for Fitbit and Digifit to also integrate. =] Dave |

+1 Shame, because the site and the app are very clever. You’ve already done the hard part DB..! |

I am disappointed with my purchase because of this. |

Kate, Again I read you state there are two types of people so you should have two types of products. Of course now, I guess there is three types of people and three products. I disagree with this move and it is overall a very bad experience for your customers. Meal snap should enter the food in DB. And the “new DB” should integrate with DB. The new DB should have been just an elite feature. Simple and easy. |

Hi ndh, mdkarp, etc, We really appreciate hearing your feedback. This of course was a huge move for us and many many months in the making. Of course we want to honor all of the folks who have been with us since the very beginning. Over time though, we have found that many people stop tracking after a few months. In 2011, we asked ourselves why this is. After many surveys, we have found that losing motivation is the number one reason that people don’t continue to live a healthy lifestyle after they first start to change. We are now offering a number of products under the DailyBurn brand that are suitable for all types of people who are seeking healthy motivation through consumer tech. Some people do find that tracking and connecting with people here helps keep them motivated long-term. Some people find that simply taking a photo of every meal with mealsnap is enough for them to stay motivated. This year especially, lots of folks wrote to us asking for a full program that helped busy people “just do” rather than having to think about a program and then track it. We’re happy to be able to provide a new product for those folks. But remember, things are still going strong here at DailyBurn Tracker, so if this app motivates you, we would love for you to stick with your current program with us. Feel free to let us know what you think, because we are always listening. Cheers! |

Some people come here just to track exercise and some people only want to track calories. Here is an example of two different customers but I don’t think there should be two different websites to track these. I feel the same way about tracker, new db and mealsnap. If I remember correctly.. food scanner was a separate product on the app store, but it did integrate with db. Eventually you rolled the scanning functionality into the full db app because people requested it and it made sense. I see the same thing here.. at some point these all should integrate and work together. I think you will see the same level of losing motivation and people will stop using the new db after a few months, similar to your experience with db tracking. I don’t think that means you need a new product, or that the new db is a bad product.. I think that is similar to what happens with any exercise, diet, eating better plan. How many people start a diet and stop after a few months? How many people join a gym and then stop going? This is a normal cycle. I think this is why it is even more important to support your longterm customers, the ones who won’t stop working out, won’t stop eating better and trying to live healthier. |
