I am in as well I hope to do better than I did last year. It was pathetic compared to my mileage for 2009. |

Are we allowed to log trainer miles? |

I’m in too… planning for a good year on the bike this year. Planning to do “Paris Brest Paris”:http://www.paris-brest-paris.org/pbp2011 this year. |

Last year for me was all about getting the most miles. It got me leaner, faster and powerfull. It also got me bored and with feelings of hate for my bike. This year for me will be about proper form and technique. I just don’t wan’t to overdo myself again. This year is for breaking plateaus! |

I will probably do some trainer miles like one leg drills, time trials and hill reps, but nothing near the 30 to 40 miles I was used to. Last year I made more than 2000 trainer miles and, come to think about it, it gives me nausea. This year I will mod my cheap compact rollers in to D.I.Y. free motion rollers in order to train for proper techique. And hell yeah! this year is for fun. |

I don’t count trainer miles. I put them down as stationary bike. I want to keep them separated. I hope I never get 2000 trainer miles in one year. |

I live in MN – it’s pretty hard to base build without using a trainer or rollers if you want to do it on your bike. |

We got lucky this week with great weather to ride outside. Next week looks like a trainer week. :( |

Well, I’m a very busy transplant physician. It’s very difficult for me to hit the road. Most of the time, in order to achive some road miles I have to wake up at 4:00 am and then hit the job from from 8 to 5 post workout. Hell, some times I even have to stay on call. I also happen to live in the tropic where the weather is PLAIN SUFFOCATING (Just do a search for Maracaibo at wheather.com). There’s a lengthy rainy season. Now I’m not bragging about my 2000 miles on the trainer. It’s just that some times, for me, It’s the trainer OR BUST. I don’t feel I should discard the trainer miles for this challenge. After all, this is a generic bike challenge, no offense here. There can always be another challenge just for the purists. AND PS, although I did 2000 miles on the trainer last year, I also hitted 5800 on the road |

Trainer miles are by far more difficult than “real” miles. I’d much rather log the outdoor miles but until the ice is gone and the temps break the 20s if its over 10miles, I probably did it in my basement. Have fun everyone! |

I think it is a shame that dailyburn can not figure out how to include both mtn biking and road biking in these challenges. I have ridden a bunch of mountain but not much road this year. |

I must be missing something. I’m at 1250 miles so far for 2011, which would put me in the lead (wasn’t really my goal) All of it is posted in my daily burn workout log, yet none of it transfers to here. Must be only for paying members. |

I always hope to do zero trainer miles. It would have to be pretty bad for me to not go outside. Luckily this “winter” has been amazing for both road riding and mountain biking. All the snow has been at the ski resorts and Denver had almost no snow and mild temps all winter. |

This challenge doesn’t include miles entered as mountain biking. Is this by design? |

For the record just about 1k of those miles were on a trainer. |
