So how does this work? |
| Aug 27, 2011 5:31am |
sniff I love you guys. Matthew, I think this is just for fun. We each just post that we ran/walked a 5k, and post our times, or whatever goal we are trying to achieve with our fitness and give each other a woo hoo! Looks like it starts NEXT weekend. Some may be working on just finishing it, others may be trying for times. Idea is to give us all a VIRTUAL 5k to run together. :) |

Exactly – I feel like we have our own little virtual communty of invisible shrinking friends, Many of us like to run or walk and are working to get better or quicker or whatever… So why not do our thing and then boast about it or share or post something we saw or whatever. I think we should do one a month? And hopefull the weather here will cool down so I can do it outside :) |

Yes, monthly is a great (GREAT) idea. So, since this challenge doesn’t for a week, is the intent that we run this next weekend, or are we going before the challenge? |

The intent is that whoever joins runs a 5k that weekend – and we will do it again the next month – :) |

I’ve got a hilly 5k course I’ll be running this weekend. My (unlikely) goal is to average better than 8 minute miles on it…so 24:48. Long, long hill, then a short, steep descent make the middle mile of this course very slow for me, but shooting for a personal best. |

I will be walking my 5k this weekend since the dr hasn’t approved running yet (1 more week) And next month I’ll be rockin it for sure :-) |

I hope you make your goal Brian!! Amity 5k is 5k – next month though will be great! I am going to be doing this on the treadmill due to the heat. I am super slow, wo I am shooting for a 13 minute mile – at my best I never broke 11 :) |

As you said, 5k is 5k! I find that as long as I’ve got something to shoot for—a time, a distance, or both—that keeps me motivated to improve bit by bit. Good luck to everyone…I love this Virtual 5k plan. I like the idea that there will be 14 (or so) others doing the 5k with me (kinda). |

Run finished in about 21:30. This is a great idea for a virtual 5K community. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s efforts, well done to everyone. My results: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/glasgow/results/athle… |

Whoops. I guess this needed to be an Everyone Wins challenge so it wouldn’t close as soon as the first person entered their 5k. I just got done and beat my goal by 18 seconds. (Probably because I realized I needed a bathroom break right after I started and that motivated me to move a little faster!) |

Well, dang! I ran 7 miles this morning but can’t add my time to the challenge as it has already ended. |

ok so that truly didn’t work the way I had intended it – I am going to try to set up another one so sorry! |
