I just turned 50 and want to lose some weight. I don’t have a lot to lose but about 10 years ago I lost 35 pounds and I don’t want it to creep back up. So I want to lose 10-13 lbs. I need encouragement!!!!

I Lost 10 Lbs! I Lost 5 Lbs!

I have a lot of weight to lose…I was down about 22+ lbs. a year ago, and I have gained it all back. I gained it back after I stopped journaling my food, and I stopped going to boot camp which was hard but it worked really good. I want to get back on track to be healthy and to feel better about myself. It won’t be easy, but I know I can do it. And I am starting tomorrow because I have ate very bad today. I am tired of saying that I am going to lose weight and never succeeding at it. Good luck everybody!

Watch the carbs and sugars – vegetables are good carbs but breads, pastas and potatoes are not so good, protein keeps you feeling full and slows down the cravings, include flax seed where you can and always drink water – before a meal will lower how much you eat. And don’t forget to exercise, even just a little will give you more energy

SOME USEFUL TIPS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
1. Slow down when you eat.
It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that you are full.

2. Write it down.

The best way to estimate how many calories you are eating is to write what you eat in a notebook.

3. Keep things even.

Every meal should be about the same amount of calories. For example, if you should be eating 1,800 calories a day, consume 500 calories for each meal and allot 300 calories for snacks in-between meals. This means you can NOT skip breakfast and make up the calories for dinner!

4. Do not confuse thirst with hunger.

When your body is asking you to rehydrate, you might mistake it for hunger cues. Stay hydrated!

5. Be prepared.

Make your lunch the night before. Have healthy snacks (such as Larabars, fruit, Greek yogurt, etc.) in your purse/car/office to avoid hitting up the vending machine.

6. Do not expect weight loss overnight.

It is a lot harder to lose weight than gain it! Aim for weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week tops. You have to burn off and/or reduce calorie intake by 3,500 calories to lose a pound of fat. If you want to lose 1 pound per week, you need to eat 500 less calories per day or burn an additional 500 calories per day by exercising. Formula: 500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories = 1 pound of weight loss.

7. Change it up.

Avoid exercising and eating the same way all the time. Try a new exercise and a new recipe to keep from falling back into old habits.

8. Spacing between meals.

During the day, eat something every 3-4 hours. Allow yourself time to eat and remember that healthy snacks between meals is OK. Keep that metabolism going!

9. Get more rest.

Seven to eight hours of sleep per night will help keep your eating schedule consistent.

10. Enlist others to participate!

Motivate one another and share success stories!

I just joined the group. I know I’m within a “healthy” range for my height but I really want to lose 12 lbs. I do some form of exercise (running or walking with crunches, sit ups, and dips/pushups) on a daily basis and eat healthy. But within the day I started to use the nutrition tracker I realized that I need to consume more protein and less carbohydrates and more water. I’ve been getting really frustrated over the past month since I started working out more consistently and haven’t been dropping any weight…now I understand. I hope the weight just starts to fall off but am realistic that it may take time.

Starting over again. 167 now, working towards 155lbs, 50 pushups, 50 crunches each in two minutes and 1 1/2 mile run in 12:30.

When I started my goal was to lose 25lbs. I’ve lost 15 since July 2012 but I guess I’ve got to switch things up because I haven’t been able to lose anything since the first of the year. Evening is the worse. Seems my appetite kicks into full gear after dark. Holidays were heavy on the carbs and that was a tough 6 weeks. I found the weight was easier to take off when I stopped buying bread, rice, pasta and potato and only had these occasionally when eating out. I’m going to restrict those food items again and we’ll see if that takes the last 10lbs off. Keeping my figures crossed.

Hi this is viola, i stopped smoking on dec 30, 2013, and it has been a real trip but i will keep on trucking and know this is right for me. I just have to be mineful of my eatting. I weight 181 and need to get down to 150. Keep me in prayer. Thank you.

I started Daily Burn 3 weeks ago and have lost 4 lbs. I’m ready to challenge myself to lose more then just 1/2 a lb to a lb a week. I know I can do it and I will! Thanks Daily Burn and all of the members comments. You are all motivators!
