Let’s say I go to dinner at a friend’s house and I eat what I assume is ~800 calories, about ~300 cal protein, ~300 cal fat, ~200 cal carbs (did this Saturday night). I don’t know the exact numbers because I didn’t cook it or weigh anything, and I don’t remember everything I ate. I do have enough knowledge of food portions to estimate this stuff while I’m eating and I’m mindful enough of my diet that I try to limit myself to a certain amount of calories and hit the right nutrient ratios. I wish I could just add this to my nutrition log quickly, rather than trying to search for and add every little thing I ate and trying to remember all the tiny portions of matzo or beef or whatever that I ate. I just need to input an estimate. It would be nice to be able to put this in. Also it would be nice to allow me to subtract calories from my meal for the day. Assume I eat a McDouble at McDonalds but I don’t eat the bun. I wish I could just look up the McDouble and then subtract about 150 calories and ~30 carbs for the bun, rather than having to make a brand new entry for a “McDouble with no bun” |

There is a food item called 100 calories that I’ve used in a pinch. Of course, it doesn’t specify where the calories came from, so your macronutrient ratios won’t be accurate for the day. I do like the suggestion of being able to plug your numbers, if you know what they are, or maybe if you use a desktop software program but want to put the top level info here at Gyminee. And the subtracting calories is a great idea as well. |

I really want to see this feature, for the same reasons. We need a way to estimate things that are literally impossible for us to log. |

To be honest, this is one of the primary reasons I don’t plan on paying for DailyBurn yet (and also why I am looking into other sites, like LiveStrong, CalorieKing, etc). I just bumped another thread (that DATES BACK TO 2008!) where people were complaining about the exact same thing. Makes me worried that changes like this, that are really quite simple, aren’t being implemented, how can I expect bigger changes to be implemented? |
