I’d love to see the ability to calculate whether a woman is breastfeeding as part of the profile and tabulating of calories, etc. as those of us nursing burn up to 500 calories a day. I’m constantly hungry!! |

That’s a very interesting idea. If we gather some more requests about this feature then we’ll definitely consider adding it. Any other new mommies out there? For the time being, you can modify some other settings to get close to the same effect.

Not currently, but since I’ve done so for a cumulative two years of my life, I think it’s appropriate to have some assistance out there for moms like me who are trying to keep ourselves AND our little ones healthy. |

I’d also like to account for breastfeeding. I am nursing a 4-month old baby and I know I need to consume more than what the site is telling me to. Thanks! |

I would love that feature! I’m breastfeeding a 7 month old baby and I don’t know how much I need to add to the recommended calorie intake or how to account for the 500 calories burned producing milk each day. |

To those moms who are asking, I would simply add 300-500 calories to the top and bottom of the recommended calorie intake and don’t worry about the carb/protein/fat categories. This is the best way to account for the extra nutrition needed to produce milk, and is basically the equivalent of two extra “healthy” snacks per day. Also, let me warn you not to cut back dramatically on your fat. Eating healthy fats (like those found in real food like almonds or avacados) is important for production of good quality milk. And consuming less than 1500-1800 calories will have a negative impact on your supply. If your BMI is low, you may even need extra fats in your diet. I pumped for 12 months and nursed for 15, so I have a decent amount of experience. If anyone wants to add me as a gymbuddy I’m happy to be a resource. Also consult kellymom.com which is a FANTASTIC resource for BFing moms, particularly this page regarding weight loss. |

I would also love for this to be part of Gyminee. I just joined today and have 3 kids, one of which is a full-time nursing 4 week old. I breastfed my other two until they were 18 months and 14 months, so this will be an issue for a while for me. Any help is appreciated Gyminee! |

YES YES YES! Please at least add breastfeeding to exercise/activities so we can track this daily! |

Yes, please! I have a 1 month old and will be nursing for at least a year – this would be so very helpful! |

New to DailyBurn and love it. The only thing that would make it perfect would be to have an option to calculate for breastfeeding. |

I would love it if they had a Breastfeeding feature. To account for these calories I am just going to create a workout that has the same amount of calories and say I burned them exercising. Breastfeeding burns an average of 500 calories a day, with the typical range from 200 to 600 calories burned a day. It’s estimated that the production of one ounce of breast milk burns 20 calories. |

Not only would I LOVE to see a breastfeeding feature, I also like to see a pregnancy feature, as caloric/calcium/folic acid needs change during pregnancy. |
