what quotes inspire you to keep up a healthy lifestyle? here is one I just saw this morning on twitter: @RevRunWisdom (yes, I follow Rev. Run on twitter….): “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” reminds me that having a plan for the day in terms of meals and exercise is crucial to success! my motto & my favorite motvating quote is this: “always be happy with yourself, but never be satisfied.” the perfect blend of being content with who you are, but always knowing that you can be even better. :) |

I’ve posted this before but it’s my personal motivator so here we go again…. the Zen proverb….The obstacle IS the path. |

When I was 15 I went to my first really late party, I didn’t even drink and I drove all my drunk (and much older) party mates home. I was in bed by 5:30 any my dad woke me up at 7 for some labor intensive chore I don’t even remember and said “if you want to party with the boys, you have to work with the men.” I like to repeat this to remind myself that I have to pay for my indulgences. |

The one my trainer always uses on me is “Pain is just weakness leaving the body” |

I just heard this quote on “The Age Groupers” podcast during my afternoon run: "People begin to become successful the minute they decide to be” – Harvey Mackay I like this quote because it implies that we all have to make a specific choice to succeed. It will not just come to us. Also, the success is in the journey – and I think that we can all identify with that. |

@KateBrown. Thank you!!! I was only a few minutes from making a deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich covered in chocolate sauce, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. Because the opposite is true as well, the moment you decide to not be successful you aren’t. |

When I am struggling with a workout I think of my favorite poem – The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost and specifically the last three lines: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— And I remind myself that the easy way is not always the most interesting way! |

Also, although not technically a quote, I did find it funny when the following happened… During my triathlon to help distract myself, I started singing to myself during the run (matching the tempo of the song to my cadence). I have been working on a song for an upcoming audition called “Run Away With Me” by Kerrigan & Lowdermilk (you can hear it sung by someone much better than me here ) and so I started to sing it to myself. Here is the first verse: Let me catch my breath. Needless to say, I never got past the first verse because everytime I sang it I started to laugh at how appropriate it was! (especially in the 100F+ heat) Now I’ve started singing just that verse to myself whenever I’m struggling on a run – it always makes me smile and takes my mind off what I’m doing… |

Whenever I need any motivation in general, I look towards my favourite character; Rocky :P He works particularly well when it comes to fitness motivation too! One of my favourite pieces of motivation is something Stallone said in the latest movie. It’s a long one (I cut out a bit at the beginning and end), but it’s so good <3 “Somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” |

One of my favourites is ‘That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly.’ Great quite by Thomas Paine. Loved it so much I hang it in my gym and look at it every day. |

Put simply as a movie buff, only one thing could change anything. " I choose" -NEO |
