Anyone got any stories of particular songs or playlists that really motivate you at the gym? I’ve included mine below, but could use some additional suggestions! *Swing Swing – All American Rejects …so ok, a lot of the music there is music by people who are mad at their parents, but it has an awesome beat and really helps fend off the monotony I normally associate with a workout… Any thoughts? What do you guys listen to in the Gym, if anything? |

Hey Phreaky – a couple of suggestions:
I also like to add in a little Kings of Leon and some retro Greenday, Minority and Basket Case are favorites… |

Awesome, thanks David! I’m gonna make a few more playlists so I can alternate as I go along, so I will defo add your suggestions and post up the full PLs I come up with. |

I post a monthly playlist to my blog. Here is a link to my most recent one: Most of these songs are present on my iPod at any given time. |

Ooooh… there’s some goon ones in among that! Thanks for the link, too! |

For workout music I just set my iphone to pandora, it knows what I like in the workout mix and plays songs that are smiler. No play lists, who has time to change them all the time/who wants to hear the same songs 100 timers. Just create a workout play list with “Rammstein, Disturbed etc..” and go from there :-) Or if you work out from home like I do, just turn on Hulu and catch up on your show (or a new series you never saw before) while you burn cals. |

Great list – nothing like angry music to work out to, a few good ones on that list I need to track down! A few of my faves, primarily for running, but they work for gym work too: Pamela, I love your “attitude” songs! |

Awesome stuff – hazelma, I’m getting an iPhone soon, and at that time, I will hopefully just put everything onto that and use the genius mixes. In saying that, I am limited to a 2GB player, so my tunes are limited. I like the idea of working at home, but I find that it is better to have the motivation of peers… I’m a fickle gym-o-phile, me! :) |

Some dark melodic death metal works for me. |

Great list, will have to have a proper read through them all. A small selection of mine: Benny Benassi – Satisfaction (Isak Original mix) |

When I’m doing cardio, I listen to Trance music. When doing weights and for stretching, I usually listen to Vaya Con Dios, sort of blues/jazz/gypsy music. For those of you who can get Spotify, here is the link: http://open.spotify.com/user/cieron1/playlist/6… |

my current gym playlist includes the following: |

Techno seems to be one of the best types of music for cardio workouts. I’ve found that music in the 128-144 BPM range fits best for my spin and elliptical workouts, which is a climbing cadence of 64-72. There is an Internet radio station at DI.FM that streams a huge number of music channels (techno, country, classical, salsa, etc.) If you use a FREE application like streamripper you can “record” the streams to your PC/Ipod. Many of the techno mixes they stream are 1 hour+ in length. |

My “standard” elliptical warm-up song is the Blestination remix of “Cruel Summer” – after that, a shuffle of upbeat songs including “I Like To Move It” (not the one from the movie “Madagascar”, but basically the same song) PInk’s “Get The Party Started”, several Green Day songs, and Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly”. New Order’s “Blue Monday” is a great one. |

So, I found an awesome triple CD pack – don’t know if you can get it in the US, but it is awesome! There are three CDs – one for sprint, running and jogging, including a warm-up mix. The CD is called Ministry of Sound Running Trax, and is a total godsend, as the BPMs are regular, the music is good and it’s not that repetitive, either. |
