I started right as the year began. I couldn’t find the same amounts of garlic or green tea extract, and i couldn’t find a caffeine free one either. However, I did find similar products. I started with only 100mg ALA at the recommended times, and excluded the green tea at bedtime due to the caffeine. I did find that after only a week, I had visibly less noticeable love handles, and less paunch. I did also start his recommended slow-carb diet as well. Together, in only a couple weeks I’m starting to see definition in my abs. My workout routine hasn’t changed much, so I’m expecting it’s mainly the nutrition that’s cutting the fat. |

I haven’t read this book, so please forgive my ignorance, but why are you taking these supplements? That is what are they supposed to do for you, is it lose weight? If it is then I just have to say that there is no evidence yet that just green tea (i.e. without caffeine) is effective in this. One research paper has stated that it does work, however I know that the same research group tried to replicate their findings without any success. They now think that it maybe due to how the green tea was ingested. At the moment they think that possibly the active ingredient needs to be given in capsule form, rather than as a tea, but they dont know whether they are right about this idea and are going to start testing this idea next month. Also when they gave the tea to their subjects in their last experiment it was based on a brand name lemon tea, however with 12 times the usual amount of active ingredient! Therefore the green tea is unlikely to make much difference to your weight loss, so if you can’t get hold of it, I would recommend not bothering …. at least until the research has been done and a suitable product with a high level of active ingredient comes onto the market. |

I am using it and the slow carb diet and like you have noticed the love handles and stomach a lot smaller. I am back in XL shirts after 3 weeks. All I know for sure is it’s not hurting. I found all the suplements in fairly close to the correct dose and caffeine free at Vitamine Shop if you are still looking. |

yes – i’ve been on the PAGG stack for the past 15 days. i’ve also lost 15lbs! I can’t say if its the supplements or the new diet – but it works for me. don’t worry about finding green tea extract w/o caffeine – its not necessary. the schedule is AGG (before breakfast) |

I use alpha-lipoic acid and green tea extract. ALA is great any time you want to lower blood glucose levels as it mimics insulin. Green tea extract is moderately effective for fat loss. Here is something even getter. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). Take 1g CLA with 1g fish oil 3 time daily. CLA really helps burn fat and also preserves muscle mass in the process. It has worked great for me. You’ll want to make sure to take the fish oil with it as CLA depletes cardiac omega 3 supplies. |

Hi thelast20! I have been doing the SCD from The Four Hour Body for five weeks now, and have had great success. During that time, I used the PAGG stack during weeks 2-4, and stopped during week 5 to see what effect (if any) it would have on my results. I saw no noticeable change in my fat loss during the fifth week, when I was not using PAGG. However, I did notice that for the first time since starting the diet, my arm and leg measurements got smaller. They had been staying steady, so I may be seeing a slowdown in muscle gain. For week 6, I am going without the supplements again, and plan to re-implement them during week 7. I’ll be documenting my progress on my blog – www.fitandhealthylivingblog.com. I also plan to do a full blood workup once I hit my goal of 10% bodyfat and will be writing up a post documenting the results of that as well. If I reach my goal during a week I am using the PAGG stack, we will be able to see if there are any red flags in my blood work, so stay tuned! Good Luck! |

Hi Jeremy, Kellydigital, et al, I have read the 4HB and have been contemplating the PAGG stack. I am currently taking a multivitamin, Magnesium, CoQ10 and Omega 3. Are you taking any additional supplements with the stack or did you stop when you started these? If you are taking other supplements, what are you taking and why… Thanks – Susie |

I’ve been on the PAGG stack for 9 weeks and have not seen a dramatic decrease in weight loss, but a significant increase in lean muscle. During this period I have averaged losing 1lb/week, but have dropped nearly 11 inches from my bicep/thigh/abdomen measurements, and have gone from 18% body fat to 15.5%. I’ve been losing the same amount of weight regardless of PAGG, but feel that it does promote my lean muscle. |

4HB recommends using Cinnamon. Anybody know if taking that in capsule form is not overdoing it or upsetting on the stomach? It’s really hard to get 1 tsp into coffee to stir |

sdickert, I was not taking other supplements in pill form while using the PAGG stack. I have been using creatine and protein shakes for muscle building purposes. If you take anything in pill form besides PAGG it definitely starts to seem like a whole lot of pills! |

PAGG is recommended, but not necessary. As Tim mentioned, his book is really about experimentation. It works for some, it doesn’t for others. Most people don’t use it due to certain mindsets on supplementation Tim makes his recommendations after his own research, experimentation, and experimentation on his own group of volunteers. I’m pretty confidant of his findings. Sometimes, if it works, it works. We didn’t know how the earth orbited the sun but it just did. And anyway, Tim has all his references to his research in his already in his book. I update my progress and give recommendations on the following on my blog: Where and how to get cheap supplements and alternatives And some other random ramblings on my blog. Do drop a message some time: http://www.fourhourbodysupplies.com Hope you guys find them useful |
