Can anyone recommend a high quality omega 3,6,9 fish oil available in the UK? It should preferably contain Rx Grade Omega 3s. |

Krill is an excellent source. |

I imagine sardines are a good source of omega 3’s. I don’t know why you would want more omega 6’s, so I won’t help you with that. But omega 9’s come from: Canola oil, Sunflower Oil, and Almonds. |

Wouldn’t know about where to get it in the UK, but Omega 3 and 6 are most important, the 9 has to be in a certain ratio to those ( 3 and 6) to be beneficial. Any decent fish would be a good source. Especially the (naturally) fatty ones. :) |

Hi All. The idea behind supplementing with omega 3 is that we have 20 to 50 times more omega 6 in our diets than what we should to stay healthy. We have an unbalance in the omega 6 /omega 3 ratio. In real life this means that we have a chronic inflammation burning our motor. Now, if we supplement with MORE omega 6 we are going to make things worse. That is why we should supplement ONLY with the ANTI INFLAMATORY omega 3 fish oil. Zero omega 6, in fact we should decrease the amounts of omega 6 by reducing grains and grain oils, the main source of inflammation. Besides supplement with omega 3 we should supplement with coenzyme CoQ10, another very important anti oxidant. For more information, please read http://www.omega-3-fish-oil-wonders.com/cq10-an… Best wishes, |

While I agree with your point about omega-3s, the data on CoQ10 is pretty unconvincing. That site is also somewhat suspicious.. advising any person with heart disease to avoid statins? That is one of the more ridiculous things I have heard lately.. |

I have friends in the UK. They rave about AmeriSciences Omega. It’s pharmaceutical grade. The company is US, but they distribute in the UK. Worth checking out for sure! Apparently, they are very credible and the product is the best available. They have a Space Act agreement where they provide supplementation for NASA. |

I take “WholeMega” from New Chapter. It is Omegas 3,5,6,7 and 9. You can find it at Whole Foods or at newchapter.com |

MORE omegas 6 we are going to make things inferior. That is why we should supplement ONLY with the ANTI swelling omega 3 fish oil. Zero omega 6, in detail we should decline the allowances of omega 6 by decreasing kernels and kernel oils, the major source of swelling. |

Udo’s Ultimate Oil Blend is by far the best source of 3:6:9 in my opinion. |

Maxalife offer an excellent range of Omega 3 products. I think they are the best I’ve tried so far. :) “omega 3 fatty acid in fish oil”:http://maxalife.com/supplements/omega-3-fish-oil see for yourself. |

To answer the question about why you would use fish or krill oil instead of flax oil, the fish body oils include omega-3s in the form of DHA and EPA. These are the potent forms that have the magical effects on your body that you always hear about. Flax is high in Alpha Linoleic Acid (not to be confused with alpha lipoic acid), which the body can convert into DHA or EPA. However, there are mountains of studies showing the direct supplementation with DHA or EPA makes a big difference compared to something like flax alone. If you’re a vegetarian there are algae options which are a bit more expensive but do also include high levels of DHA and EPA. For people who don’t mind a fish oil though I have found Flameout from Biotest to be one of the best on the market http://goo.gl/B5Auz A lot of recommendations for fish oil consumption are not high enough. Recent studies have shown that for a significant amount of omega-3 lipids to be incorporated into cell membranes you may need to consume fish oil at a rate of 2 grams of DHA/EPA combined / day for up to 12 weeks. There is a great summary of this research in a recent leangains.com post here: |
