Iv recently been training with 1MR and thats been great. Iv tried jak3d and noxplode but 1MR blew them away. Down to my last scoop but so i was wondering what other good reasonably priced pre workout supplements are out there? |

Personally I’m not a big fan of pre-workout supplements as most of them are pretty overpriced for what they are and rarely tell you exactly what you’re paying for (or in other words what amounts of each ingredient is in them). Not tried 1MR but have tried Jak3d a few times….wasn’t really impressed. Have you thought about buying the raw ingredients seperately and making your own pre-workout supplement? IMO that is a much more cost effective option. A lot of pre-workout supplements contain primarily the same ingredients – Creatine, L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate (AAKG), Caffeine and a few other aminos (Taurine, L-Tyrosine..etc.) all of which you can buy from most decent bulk powder suppliers pretty cheap. One of the most recent pre-supplement ingredients which is all the rage is Methylhexaneamine, also known as 1 3 dimethylmamylamin (DMAA) which I believe (I may be wrong) is the main ingredient in Jack3d. I know this isn’t exactly the response you were looking for but the main problem I have with a lot of branded pre-workout supplements and supplements in general is that a lot of these products don’t tell you exactly how much of each ingredient it contains and quite often just says “proprietary blend” and just tell you to total amount of ALL ingredient in grams. This tells you nothing as to what you’re actually getting…for all you know 80% of that so called proprietary blend could be coming from caffeine or other cheap fillers which of course can lead to a placebo affect and makes you think “this sh*t does what it says” when in fact you could just be getting a big caffeine hit. If you buy the raw ingredients, not only will they last much longer, but you can pretty much taylor it to your needs and at least that way you’ll know exactly how much of each ingredient is going into it. |

Whoa! Where can you buy Methylhexaneamine, (1 3 dimethylmamylamin)?? I know at least ine athlete who has been popped in a drug test for its use, as it basically shows up as an ampethamine if I’m not mistaken. Any more info on this? -EK |

Hi Eric, Yes, I believe it was actually put on the WADA Prohibited List in 2010 classed as a non specified stimulant. Earlier this year it was re-classified as a specified stimulant but is still prohibited in sports competition….so it’s definitely one of those things to be warey of if you’re a competitive athlete (as you should be anyway) as you mentioned. There are a few places over here in the UK where you can purchase it I believe, although I can’t speak for US sources as regulations on certain supplements..etc. differ depending on the country. Most UK sources I know of sell it in capsule forms but there are a few places which sell it as a powder. A couple of places I know of….(all UK based retailers). http://www.predatornutrition.com/pd-geranamine-… This one seems pretty good for the money considering most pre-workout supplements contain on average 25mg or so per serving. 5g of raw powder for that price isn’t bad. http://www.elite-n.co.uk/id25.html http://astronutrition.com/1-3-dimethylamylamine… I’m not quite sure how these prices would compare to buying something like Jack3d or other products containing this ingredient. |

I love the stuff. I’m not a professional athlete so I don’t care if it is banned. All I know is that it helps me have an insane workout. I’m lifting heavier. I’m having longer workouts. The only drawback for me it that I have to monitor myself to make sure I don’t over train and stray into the injury zone. Lately, I’ve been using a product called Invincible by Nutraceuticals. AS far as banned substances, here is the 2012 list of them. Here’s a list of some other products that containe DMAA. |

Wow old thread. IMO, if your diet is in order you shouldn’t need any kind of preworkout to perform better. None of the elite level power lifters I trained with used or needed much more than a cup of coffee. -EK |

Surprised to hear about those not having response to jack3d, I won’t lift without it and can definitely tell a difference with it. M brother turned me on to it, I love it, the only drawback is the 1 3 dim, causes boner issues for a few hours after use… |
