Calorie Goals

Discussion started by jadielady

Subject Description

I noticed none of our members have met their calorie goals recently.  I wondered if people just aren't entering them or if like me, you're having trouble eating enough calories to make Gyminee hapy?

I only seem to eat enough on weekends, when I let myself eat things like hamburgers and pizza, and of course then I'm blasting past my fat goals.

I'm having the same problem. Once I started tracking my intake again and staying away from the high calorie foods it got really hard to hit the goal for the day. I'm getting better at it, but you really have to eat a lot of healthy food to make up for a much smaller portion of junkfood.

Any suggestions?

I have a feeling that were I to eat something like a whole chicken breast with vegetables and rice for dinner I would probably do a lot better. But my boyfriend is working til 9PM and I just don't feel like messing with it, so I generally eat a frozen dinner.

I haven't been tracking calories.  I try to, but find it hard to do or doing double duty by right them first in a notebook, then entrying them here.

Calorie goals

It seems that the Gyminee recommended calorie goals are a bit high.  I think it came up with ~3K calories for me (which I can do - and did this weekend - but not if I'm trying to lose weight.)  I had to modify my goals, but left them with relatively large ranges (e.g.: rather than 2900-3100, I now have 1100-2000 - or something along those lines.)

(for what it's worth, no that range isn't something I'd want to maintain in the long term, but once I lose the weight I'm trying to, I'll revamp my goals.)

Me too

I have a huge problem meeting my calories.  NO problem with the carbs.  Got to fix that.  I just am not sure what all I need to eat to get those calories up there

I was complaining about this issue to a friend of mine, and he was quite shocked to hear the number of calories Gyminee had calculated that I needed (I was 4 calories under my upper limit after having 2 taco bell tacos and a cheesy gordita crunch for dinner. Wha?)

He sent me this link which I find much more helpful.

next show?

I think talking about Jadie's link is worth some airtime.  But when you say "next show" are you thinking Valentine's Day? St. Patty's Day?  Summer Solstice. . . ;)

Roflcoptor

This is one of those "I'll work out tonight because I missed it this morning" situations. It doesn't work there and it doesn't work for podcasting. ;)

The original plan was to record on Saturday before I flew to Austin, but Jason wound up mired in something he couldn't tear away from and it didn't go off. The backup plan was for me to bring my mic with me so we can do it from the hotel.

"Hey guys, this is your... eh, Valentine's Day podcast... because TriNorm needs a solid GeekFit punch in his neck."

[insert roflcoptor here... who says I don't bring my subject & messages together?]
