Hotel Workouts

Discussion started by mrxinu

Subject Description

I'm on my first trip since I started at the new company. It's a constant battle to keep my exercise routine up to par with my workouts at home. What do you guys do when you're on the road?

hotel workouts

Typically, I just try to run; outside when possible (it's an interesting way to see the area), inside when pollution is bad (I travel a lot in China.)

Other than that, pushups, situps (crunches), wall squats if I wasn't able to run, and pullups on the bathroom door if I'm feeling really motivated.

Aerobics

Aerobics are easy.  You need about 4 ft by 6ft space and a dvd.  As long as your work computer doesn't lock you out during the routine.  That's a crappy side effect.

I really like The Firm series, with Allison Davidson as the instructor.  She cues well, is energetic and is fun to follow.

The Firm

I bought a copy of The Firm once thinking it was the lawyer movie with Tom Cruise. It totally wasn't.

Great suggestion!

Bathroom Pullups

Hey Norm, what are you using to do pullups in the bathroom? I'm not nearly strong enough to lift my own weight, but it's one of those "things I'll do when I lose weight."

Destroying Hotel Property

Sorry for the delayed response; blame it on some combination of "life is busy" and the poor messaging functions of Gyminee.

Anyway - the whole bathroom pull-up thing isn't that elegant - I actually use the door itself.  It's not that good for the hinges, but it does provide a little cheat in that you can shimmy up the door for the last one or two ;)  It's not ideal, but if you're on the road and only have 10-15 minutes. . .

Hotel Destruction

You, Norm, are the MAN. I can just see you in a hotel hanging off the bathroom door.

Iron gym

Not to sound to much like a late night add. but I got the Iron gym for christmas, It's the one that can hang on the door way and you can do pull up's with difrent grips pluss push up that are elavated and dips, also it comes apart so it would be easy to pack. The only 2 things I do not like about it so  is a it hangs buy a little hook that you stick in the fram of the door so it can't hang from all door but most and if you loss the hook your in trouble. Also I can't find a door wide enough to do the wide grip pull ups comfortable, besides this I think it will work out just fine for travle work outs.

Resistance Bands

When I started traveling more, I bought a set of resistance bands and that really helps when there isn't a gym around.  They pack well and weigh next to nothing.  I'll usually do some sort of work out while watching TV.  While it's never as good a work out as real weights, it does help and keeps me motivated until I get back home.

TRX Essentials

I picked up the TRX suspension system recently and I'm going to be taking it on the road with me.
