Increase protein recommendations?

Discussion started by bradyjfrey

Subject Description

In June I head to Israel to train/test for Krav Maga instructor level - so my next few months I'll be stepping things up to prepare for what sounds like a rough 10 days of daily training and testing.

My goals are typical: slim down, increase endurance, build upper body strength. While I've got the tools to progress, I'm having problems with adding more protein to my diet while not adding a huge increase in calories.

Anyone have any recommendations? Are protein drinks a good solution? Should I just be increasing my meat intake? Tofu? Anything is appreciated, many thanks!

Protein

I also am trying to increase my protein intake. I need to take off many pounds and get my endurence up. Certainly increasing prorein and lowering fat and carbs is the only way to go. I use whey and soy protein drinks and try to focus on foods that are high in protein like fish, low or no fat dairy pruducts, Kashi cerials, lean red meat and chicken and turkey. Spinach is good to. Keep your eye on the lables and if the food you are thinking about eating doesn't have at least 6g of protein (for instance) find something else to eat.

cheers!

Protein

It's not just how much protein you take, but what kind (whey, casein, etc.) and when. These are not just minor considerations; they are -critical-.

I'd go on and on, but I'd just be spitting back great content that you could find on http://Menshealth.com and http://lef.org.

Go to those sites and read up on protein; I promise it will be worth your time.
