TWiT Fit - Welcome TWiT Fitters - Say hello here!

Glad to see you on Gyminee! I've been a member for some time, but I just decided to get serious and use it to track my workouts and weight loss.

I've always worked out - but never very consistently. And never enough to stay thin! Christmas 2006 my wife gave me five sessions with a personal trainer, Al Scardino. I've been seeing Al three times a week ever since! I feel like I'm in much better shape, but my weight hasn't changed at all.

So now it's time to get serious about conditioning and weight loss. I'm at a new club now, Club One, and meeting weekly with a trainer there, Jack Cotter. I go in six days a week - I lift three days a week, and do aerobic exercise for at least 45 minutes the other three. I'll be logging my workouts here.

Jack has also asked me to track my food by taking a picture of everything I eat with my camera phone, and logging it here.

My goal is to lose a pound a week for the next year to get to a target weight of 180. (And then, I hope, to 170.) I know you'll support me in my goals to get in shape, lose weight, and stay healthy. And I hope I can support you to reach your goals!

Here's to a long, active, and healthy life!

Hey All

Thor79 from IRC and the Army. Been big all my life, only made a couple attempts to get in shape and never really succeeded. Starting slow for now with some in home exercises.

My motivation for doing it this time was seeing myself get close to 290 one day last week with clothes on. For the past few years I've been hovering around 260-270 without any real effort on my part. I've seen my dad battle with weight all his life, and I don't want to have to resort to the tool he used to lose weight, surgery (gastric bypass).

I've started slow, with some light jogging in place and some situps and pushups all in my living room. Right now I'm trying to put in at least 20 minutes every day. Already seen an improvement in my endurance with the jogging in place (2x 5 minutes (other exercises in between) > 15 minutes with exercises after).

Eventually I'll probably join a local gym...but they gotta have a pool as I love swimming. The last time I really made an effort was when I had easy access to a local gym through my company, and that gym had a pool.

Using my iPhone to help me track my weight and exercises. I've done a little bit to cut back on what I eat. Being on a limited budget it's difficult to eat healthy, at least initially. Once I can figure out some good healhty recipes I can start to work on that part as well.

I'm sorry to see that we no longer have Leo on the air motivating us every week (other than showing us he is eating healthy for the most part), but I'm happy at least a few people are still active in this group.

Hello! *Waves*

Hi to all fellow TWiT Fitters :)

My name is Marissa, I am 22 years old, and I am currently studying Game Design SP-FX at Columbia College Chicago.

I have been a fan of Leo's since ZDTV. I listen to TWiT every week (as well as other TWiT Network podcasts), I try to watch TWiT Live when I can (and participate in the IRC chat), and I'm a member of the TWiT Army.

I am here because I am trying to get back into shape and back to where I was before I had fiascos happen to my body.

Basically a few years back I had very bad insomnia so I decided to do the Atkins Diet because at the time they were advertising that it helped with such (that and I thought I developed an allergy to bread), so it ended up fixing my insomnia and I lost a ton of weight, but I was VERY deficient in nutrients, so I quit. The side effect however wasn't so much weight gain as that my body wouldn't absorb food... this went on for a year, then finally my body regulated itself as best it could and I get hit with a birth control issue. Turns out the doctors had me on it for a year longer than I should have been (I took the shot), and I ended up gaining 40+ pounds (not to mention having to deal with possible bone thinning.)

Now I'm just trying to get back slowly, and safely. :)

Hello all from Ottawa

I have to admit that I am a Twit groupy.

I have been a fan of twit ever since the beginning of podcasting. As a web developer with lot's of stress in my life, it was taking a big toll on my body, so I bit the bullet last August and started a fitness course in a gym with a personal trainer. I haven't lost the weight(damn the poutine) but I do feel stronger and more fit. My next goal is to loose the extra weight and keep the muscles including the one in the head in good working order.

Another TWiT for the can!

I've been downloading & listening to Leo's many netcasts for about 5 or 6 years from Canada near Toronto. Have been watching the live streams for about a year. I have been working out at a gym for about 5 years, but have just discovered Pilates/Yoga/TaiChi combo. Have been getting encouragement from TwitFit and am now getting serious about losing my excess weight. I'm hoping to get some encouragement from the group. ... Bill

Hi, Twit Fitters

I'm Mike from North Carolina, alias "Sorrybum" in the chatroom. Like most of you, I go back to "Call for Help" and "The Screen Savers" with Leo. My first computer was a TRS-80, running Visicalc. I've tried to stay active, although I never was a jock. Also, I found out years ago that my uncontrolled appetite can far outpace my exercise ability. At 71, I'm not ready for the rocking chair; so I'm earnestly trying to lose the 25 extra pounts I habitually carry. I just learned about this group today and am excited. I'm trying to follow Dr. Joel Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" program that I first saw on Twit Fit six months ago. I also am trying to follow the seven step program laid out in the book "Younger Next Year"by Chris Crowley & Henry S. Lodge, M.D. I've joined a gym and try to workout three days a week. The other days I try to walk for an hour, keeping my heart rate between 70-85% of my maximum.

Howdy, y'all from Texas!

Hello, fellow TWiT Fitters!

I'm Krista, and I've also been a fan of Leo's for years now--I used to watch him and Kate on TSS in the late '90s; when we moved to Texas, we had to get digital cable just so we (OK, I) could keep watching TechTV! :) I have been thrilled to rediscover his new broadcasts on TWiT.

A word of encouragement for those just starting this journey--if you do the work, you WILL get the results! I started out by getting in shape, going from struggling to run 10 min in May, 2008 to running a half marathon in November--I was in good shape, but didn't lose much if any weight. I started watching my food intake in December while trying to maintain my exercise schedule, and have already lost approx. 15 lbs. Yay! If I can do it, you can do it too--just hang in there, be consistent, and keep at it!

Hey to all TWITS!

Hi,y'all. I've been a HUGE fan (literally and figuratively) of Leo's since CFH and TSS. Glad to see the Chief Twit is leading us into lifestyle changes.

I've been doing several different "diets", and I'm now doing a modified version of the Raw Food Diet. It's not bad, but I have to have some sort of meat every once in a while. :D

I do walk every day (primarily because I don't own a car, so I have to either walk or ride my bike), and I estimate that I walk close to a mile every day. I am going to try and exercise just a *little* bit more. :D

Hello Fellow TWiT Fitters

Hello to my fellow TWiT Fitters!

I am a 35 year old father of 4. With 3 boys and 1 girl you would think I am always active, but I have to dissagree. Because of the food I love to eat and the sedentary lifestyle I live, I am the heavyest I have ever been. I have been in the tech industy for about 17 years, and followed Leo starting back in the Screen Savers days. I listen / watch almost all of the shows from TWiT channel. Enough about me time to do some push ups. LOL

Glad to see you on Gyminee! I've been a member for some
