YMCA Members - How does your Y use Gyminee?

Having just discovered Gyminee, I think it's the best thing since Wonder bread (don't tell me the carbs), and I think there are a lot of great things the Y can use it for to help members accomplish their health and fitness goals. I'd be curious to hear how your local Y uses Gyminee (if at all), or alternatively how would like to see your Y use it to help you get the most out of both your Y and Gyminee memberships.

just joined last week

i like the Y overall, but the people that work at mine are kinda worthless. the website says you get a free consultation and body analisis (info i could use in gyminee) for free when you join. so far, not one person that i have asked about it has any clue what i am talking about. the facilities are acceptable at my Y and i like that i can go to other Y's in the area (did a driving tour of a couple this weekend and tried out their pools) but i wish the folks at my Y were a little more educated about their own offerings :)

Fitlinxx

My local YMCA's use a computer system called fitlinxx. Users can track cardio minutes, calories, and distance. Classes can be entered as well, with a rough estimate of calories burned. The weight lifting machines are also hooked up to fitlinxx - each machine has a small touch screen on it, the user logs in and the machine can then tell you what weight/reps to do and it even reminds you to go slow (if you go to fast up or down, it doesn't count!) When I first got back into fitness about 2 years ago, I was on this system and it was great. Physical trainers can you leave you motivational messages on it, too...It would be GREAT if fitlinxx could automatically update gyminee or if your gyminee account could be linked to fitlinxx!

Some initial thoughts ...

Our Y offers a free computerized fitness assessment called MicroFit that can help you measure a lot of the metrics Gyminee helps you track. I'm not sure how many Y's around the country have this service as well, but it's worth looking into.

In the future, I think it'd be great if our Y formed some workout groups using Gyminee to help connect like-minded exercisers (i.e. beginners, runners, etc.) to each other better.
