Daily Burn Super Users Support Group - Who am I?

It's time for introductions everyone! I'll go first.

My name is Angela, I'm 32 years old and I live in Lincoln, Ne. I've lived in Lincoln my whole life but I have done some traveling. I've been to 45 different states and Canada a few times. I hope to make more trips in the future once I have the money, London is my dream trip at the moment.

I work at the University here and do computer support for all the public computing needs at the libraries. I take care of the computer labs as wells as the service desk (reference desk and circulation desks). I also help make sure the networked printing system is up and running so students can get their print jobs. It can be stressful at times but my coworkers are awesome and it's a generally laid back place to work.

My current hobbies include photography, cooking, walking and trying new things. My latest new hobby has been doing little personal challenges. Right now I'm doing a 30 day no HFCS challenge and plan to do other challenges in the future. I like doing little things that make life more intresting.

I'm also into writing and decided to compete in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) this year. The goal is to write 50,000 words by the end of November. I'm excited to get back into writing.

Now that you know a little about me, tell me something about you!

My name is Pamela. I am 34 and live in Springfield, MO. I have been married to the best guy a girl could ask for since Feb 09, althought we have been together for about 10 and a half years.

I fought my weight for most of my life, starting as a small child. I was the teased fat girl in grade school and I think that has shaped a lot of my feeling about myself and my weight. I lost weight due to my type 1 diabetes diagnosis at age 10, but when I hit college I started to pack the pounds on again. About 10 and a half years ago I said enough. I hurt, I was tired and I had no self esteem. So I started this journey of health and fitness and I have to say I feel I have been pretty successful at it. I took most of my weight off that first year and bobbed around 125-128 for many years. About a year ago I decided I could still improve, so I really refocused my exercise and eating to get to where I am now, around 116.

My day job (the one that pays the bills) is process design for a major bank. Its okay. I work at home, which gives me more flexibility for my workouts and eating schedule. However it is not what I am passionate about. So my second job is my newly started personal training business. I love talking with others about health and fitness and helping other people achieve their goals.

My other hobbies include reading and basketball (watching, not playing).

Mile High Cardio

My name is Mark, I'm 30 years old and live in Westminster, CO, a suburb of Denver. I am married to the most wonderful woman I know and the proud father of a 9 month old baby boy.

I am a fellow geek to all the others on here. I am an IT Engineer specializing in VMware and Storage implementations for midsize companies.

I have always struggled with my weight, graduating high school at 300 lbs. After that, I made some lifestyle changes and got all the way down to 180. Since then I have bounced between 180-240 on a regular basis but this year went up to 275. Getting so close to where I started over ten years ago scared me.

My wife and I are both doing this together and want to be healthy parents and good role models for our baby boy.

I love to travel and as a reward for this weight loss my wife and I are hiking 4 days to Machu Picchu in Peru this May. My next big goal is to run the Disney Marathon in 2011 as part of the Livestrong team. I ran a 10k back in 2004 and really want to be able to run again.

My favorite past time is hiking and backpacking and I'm exited to get back on the trails that I've been avoiding over the past couple years.

Hi!

I'm Kathy, I'm 47, and I live outside of Reno, NV now but hope to relocate to San Diego next year. I stumbled across DB early last spring when searching for a site that was more user-friendly than the one the local U set me up on as part of a weight-loss study. I'm hooked! I've been heavy to one degree or another almost all of my adult life, and have tried some of the weird stuff (Atkins, South Beach, etc.) in the past, but this "simple" approach of paying attention to how much you eat and move much you move has been the only thing that's really worked for me.

I have the dreaded desk job at a big casino, admin for the Security Department. It's not particularly stressful and sometimes it's really interesting, and my bosses are the best. My hobbies include travel to the tropics (when I can afford it) to scuba dive, reading, bird watching, and fly fishing. I'm learning to cook now, too. One of my dreams is to see Ireland and Scotland someday.

Cieron

I'm Cieron. I'm 46 years old and live in Birmingham, England. I am self-employed and work from home, sitting at a computer all day.

I used to be fairly fit and go to a gym regularly on my way to work. When I started working from home, 5 years ago, I found too many excuses not to go to the gym today. Gradually, I put on 50 pounds!

I recently decided that enough is enough. I cancelled my gym membership and bought some home equipment. I really can't avoid using it now when I pass it every day! And it appears to be working.

Hello from Nashville

Hi everyone! I'm a 30-year-old language editor for a software company that makes practice exams for IT certification tests. I'm a native Tennessean, but I lived in northern Ohio for about two years before moving back to the Nashville area about a year-and-a-half ago with my (then-)fiance.

I've been overweight most of my life, but I had lost about 60 lbs. several years ago and kept most of it off until life tossed us some curveballs last year. Fast-forward, and now I'm 100 lbs. from my goal weight and trying to recapture the mind-set that helped me to lose the weight before.

Hello from Florida

I'm a transplant since 2003 from the Boston area. I'm a medical transcriptionist and pretty much sit on my butt all day. I love what I do and it allows me to be home for my son but I don't even get to walk to the copy machine :-)

I tried out for the Get Fit Club here in Central Florida sponsored by Local6 and YMCA. It is an online reality series. I made it as a finalist and on-camera interview. I never did get chosen. Fortunately the local YMCAs are doing their own As Seen On TV and I am a part of that. We are currently on week 4 out of 15 weeks.

I initially lost 5 pounds but put back on 3 pounds of that when I had to stop running due to a shin splint.

Although the weight loss is slow, I am starting to feel better and I can slight body changes. If I keep planning my food then I'll do fine. If not, it is a bad day :-)

I completed the Couch to 5K program 2 weeks ago and finished with my first 5k. Unfortunately, I ran through a splint and it is slow to get better. I never thought I would say this but I really miss running!

I have an online blog for the Get Fit Club, come and say hello!

Hi all!

My name is Jenney, I live in Vacaville, CA which is in between Sacramento and Napa. I am a full time college student, mom and wife. I was working full time as well, but my daughter has shown that she needs more of my time at home, so I quit my job (scary thing to do) and am concentrating on her, my schooling and the health of my family. I am currently working towards a Bachelor's in Nutrition Science and hope to open a Nutrition/Motivation consulting business when I am finished. That being said, my motivation has been severely lacking lately, mostly on the exercise front. I have found that I am even busier now that I am not at work than I was when I was sitting at a desk 40 hours a week. Go figure. I am looking for motivators that aren't going to bail on Daily Burn. I have 19 motivators and only 3 of them are serious, most of them appear to have quit.

My name is Angie (40 years old)and I live in Corpus Christi Texas with my husband Jeff my son Carter (21) and his daughter Nicole(10). We have a very full house we also have 5 indoor cats that we just built a outside playpen for them to get some exercise in and so fresh air and they love it.

I am a manager of a countertop company we fabricate and install Corian, Zodiaq and Granite countertops. I spend my day behind a desk. I get out once in a while but not often enough.

I have had 2 major surgery's in the past 3 years and did not loose all of my weight in between the two so I am trying very hard now. I does not come off as easy as it goes on.

I really need the motivation to keep me going because it is to easy to just throw in the towel.

Hello from New England!

Hi! My name is Jenny, and I live in Connecticut. I’m 24 years old, and I work for an educational dot com company. I spend a majority of my day typing and sitting at a desk for work. I love baking, cooking, reading, softball, sand volleyball, baseball, math, technology, the Internet, and watching/playing most other sports. I’ve played fast pitch softball since I was four, and I had a college scholarship to play. I’ve moved from playing fast pitch to playing co-ed slow pitch (due to no local fast pitch leagues for my age) and coaching young girls in fast pitch.

I’ve lost 32 pounds in the past three months by journaling my food, working out, and changing my lifestyle. I’m not on any particular diet. I’m just tracking what I eat and working out more. I’ve made the following changes in my life which is causing my success: started eating breakfast, started drinking >8 glasses of water per day, started working out/exercising more, quit eating big meals late at night, started tracking all my food, started watching my sodium intake, started planning what I was going to get before going out to a restaurant, started trying new things (Zumba, couch to 5k program, Greek yogurt, etc.), cut out the egg yolks, cut off my diet coke iv (cut out all soda), and started eating small meals every few hours.I have recently discovered Zumba, and I love it. I also did a boot camp, and I loved it. I hope to find even more new workouts soon to try (Yoga, Taekwondo, etc.).

I’m getting a little nervous that I won’t work out as much now that it is getting darker earlier and very cold. I could use a few more motivators to give me a nice push to get my rear to the gym. I should be doing 5 hours of working out a week, and I could use some more gentle kicks in the rear to get moving when I start to slack.

I plan on losing another 10 pounds by Christmas. I plan on getting down to 185, and then I’ll go from there. Hope to hear from some of you soon!

I am an IT Director for a medium sized company that publishes education texts and provides professional development to math teachers. It's a stressful job and I find that exercising really helps.

My hobbies are photography, home projects, reading, painting, and almost anything creative. I like to play softball, downhill ski, kayak, golf, and ride bikes.

I get most of my exercise in the gym right now and I'm about to have my left ACL repaired from a skiing accident I had last year. I want to be back in the gym doing at least upper body workouts within a week of my surgery and I plan to stick to my nutrition goals.

Hi Everyone

I'm Bobby. I am originally from Cornwall, United Kingdom but I am currently a postgraduate at the University of Southampton studying a Master of Arts degree in Musicology; a very broad overview of my work is involvement with microtones (the intervals inbetween semi tones). Alongside my academic studies I hold the first trombone and section leader position of the Southampton University Symphony Orchestra, and bass trombonist for the Southampton University Brass Band.

In order to fund my education I have three jobs:1) Supervisor for a general store, 2) Catering and hospitality assistant for a catering agency and 3) Lottery fund raiser for the Fire Fighter Charity. Even though these have nothing to do with my chosen career path I love all my jobs and would be completely lost without them.

Now for the exercise part :-) I love to run; I normally go 3xs a week on the treadmill when I'm at uni, or when I go home I run with my Cornish running partner along the beach or through the fields. I also love to weight training and do this in my room - I use the P90x weight training programme and have just started P90x Classic phase 1. I am also a practicing martial artist and have just started training 3xs a week in Goju-Ryu style; I love this club - it is the most fun I have had in a long time :-)

When I'm not doing any of the above I love to cook, spend time with my friends and family, compose music, listen to music, plan trips and generally persue anything that grabs my attention.

Nice to meet you all :-)
