hello

Hi, I am also a 'stay at home mum' but only fairly recently as I gave up work just over a year ago due to a combination of factors - the main one being no suitable childcare for my 11 year old son with additional learning needs.

The problem with this is that in the last 15 months I have managed to put on over a stone which really doesnt help my self esteem and being, very nearly, only 3 years off 40 I decided back in January that I needed to do something about it so I joined my local gym.

Four months later I find that I havnt lost any weight or had any change in my measurements though, I have to say, this was very probably due to my half-hearted attempts at the gym and taking no notice of my eating habits.

I have now invested in a cross trainer bought a heart monitor, an exercise log and found one or two very good websites that have helped change my headset for the posistive (get fit slowly being the major influence).

Im hoping to attend the gym twice a week for now and do my cross trainer at least another three times. I have set my goals fairly low so that I will not get as disheartened. I want my resting heart rate down below 70 (currently 76 which I didnt think was too bad considering I am a smoker) and I would like to loose 6lb in the next six months and then, hopefully, progress from there.

I know the weight loss seems a very low goal but I appear to be having great difficulty shifting it. As well as smoking I also suffer with depression which doesnt help my mind-set and I do wonder if my meds effect my weight.

As they say - nothing will change if you cant find the will to do it. So here goes :-)

Hi all!

I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I am a stay at home mom in my mid 30's. My youngest child is 10 months and I now feel that these extra 10 lbs can no longer be called "baby weight." I realize 10 lbs is not a lot to lose, but my problem is one of lifestyle....I am at home all day usually in the kitchen next to all the snack foods. My kids are young and therefore eat constantly. While a cheese stick is a "healthy" snack for my 3 year old, it is not great for me. I find myself eating the scraps off their plates all day. So, my choice is to join this group, track my calories and watch my portions OR get a dog. I really don't want a dog, so here I am!

-Sarah

Hi everyone.

I just joined daily burn when I read about it on the Get Fit Slowly forum. My goal is to lose 4kg (about 9 pounds) and improve my strength.

I'm a 30-year old female mathematician, and I've been gaining about 1kg (2.2 pounds) every year since I finished my bachelor's degree nine years ago. The first five were okay, but this last four have got me worried, so I'm trying to reverse the trend.

Best wishes and good luck to everyone! :)
