We could all do with fewer ethical conundrums in our lives, and this is one of the easiest to relinquish. With all the added benefits to individual and global health, I think the real question is why the heck not??

Been one since the day I was born.

Why? Religion, custom, family upbringing, ahimsa, not wanting to hurt more than I already do, relative kindness, carbon footprint

If only only only it weren't so carb heavy.....

because your body creates it's own cholesterol - why add to it - it's not healthy. killing animals when you don't have to is wrong -- that and it reminds me a little of soylent green...

There are so many other things in this world to eat besides animals, most of which I never tried before I decided to become vegan. Vegetarianism gives you an excellent opportunity to branch out with your culinary expericenes!

Glad That was a good example for you! :)

I am finding that as I look around with my eyes open and pay attention, more and more about this style of eating fits. It was all there, right in front of me for years, but I just wsn't paying attention before.

Why not part 2...

Outside my database and programming job, I take care of anywhere from 12 - 18 horses and a bunch of cattle every day.

I have often marveled at the horses, how big and powerful they are. Yet all they eat is grass, hay, oats. There is no "real" protien source as I had thought of it before.

How can they be so big, so fast, so strong? I mean 1000 lbs+ is a big animal! Surely I would starve if I ate like they do. Not! LOL! I am eating like a horse now and look and feel better than I ever did! Before, I ate much less, weighed more, and was not as fit!

To me these are compelling reasons to stay on the path.

Why not veg?

I was raised, meat and potatoes, I married a vegetarian and have been probably 70% vegetarian since. There are so many reasons to not eat animals and/or animal products, but my main one is that I want to see how I do without. So far so good! :)
