Howdy from Texas -
This is my first time to attempt an actual running program, and I'm taking the advice on the instructions: I walk more than jog, and I'm careful to warm up first.
I remember being a kid and running so fast that all I could hear was the wind rushing past my ears. About 20 years ago in college, I tried to run like that again and was aghast that I couldn't. All I could hear was my heavy feet pounding the ground and my own labored breathing.
These days, approaching 40, I'm not concerned about running fast. What I want to do is lose weight and increase my fitness level. But there's still that part of me that thinks being able to run fast--in an emergency, or when playing with my kids--is a crucial life skill. So I'm doing something I hate: I'm re-learning how to run.
Anyone else? Any inspiration? Any gymbuddies out there?
