if it is your 1st marathon, you don't really need to 22 miles. i would recommend doing a run of about 3 1/2 to 4 hours rather than focusing a distance. I also don't recommend taking ibuprofen before runs. Good luck on your first. The marathon is a special experience.

Good job! I'm working up to my first half-marathon for the end of May. So far so good - did 6 miles yesterday, which is my longest yet.

Ist marathon

Hi I am currently training for my first marathon in June, I was wondering if it would be better to try fitting in a 22 mile run also? Also, does anyone recommend taking an ibprofen before a long run over 14 miles?

half marathons are a blast!

They're addicting! I finished my first half marathon shortly after I finished Airborne school in 2007; I've run about 6 since then :)

Running Addction

I know the feeling! I started with 5k's on the weekends for something to do besides work but it turned out to be an addiction. I went on to 10Ks, then the Army 1/2 Marathon until i finished my first marathon last june. Now i have my sights on running the Tacoma Marathon in may and another one in June. Good luck on the runs.

Yep,

I find marathons quite addictive as well. I've just started 10k's but I am looking at a half marathon in the spring, and then a full by fall next year.
