Hi there! I'm new to running. I started with the couch to 5k program in July and have progressed slowly to running 3.2 miles. My first 5k race is in January and I plan on entering others after that. I have been on a healthy diet life style since last January and lost 70lbs. My vice is weight lifting because for so long I had a fear of it. I was always the unathletic, clutzy girl (my mother had a disease similar to MS and I picked up her bad cordination). I'm slowly overcoming the fear of lifting the weights and working on the machines not to mention working on balance. I still run like a duck but I'm working on it. It's hard to train that out of me since I have done it for thirty years. Sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel and quitting but then I look at how far I come and I know I don't want to go back to that lifestyle. I feel free for the first time in my life and that's enough to keep me going when everyone is eating junk food in front of me or the gym is empty and I have self-doubt. Any advice you can give someone who has just started out on this lifestyle?
