Home Fitness - Treadmill Research

I am looking to get a treadmill for our home. Not really wanting to spend more than $1100. I heard that I need 3 hp at least as my wife and I both run a lot. Any advice/suggestions/thoughts?

Originally I was considering a treadmill, but as I talked to more people I found that an elliptical would be better for me, so I went that route (Sole e55).

In my research I found some decent websites (such as Treadmill Sensei) which helped me know what I should look for in an elliptical. From there I visited a few stores to try out the equipment. When I settled on the kinds I wanted I did a little deal hunting and found my elliptical for the same price as the e35. I then asked sole to price match it and they did, so I ordered my elliptical direct from Sole.

I recommend getting a clear understanding of what you want and then looking for treadmills that meet the criteria. You may be able to find a good deal on Craigslist, but there is a heap of overpriced junk on Craigslist to sort through.
