Home Fitness - Best Home Fitness Equipment?

So far my "best buys" include:

*Pull up bar

*Stability Ball

*Perfect Pushup

*Adjustable Bench

*Dumbbells

I'm looking to pick up a heavy resistance cable soon too (those rubber tubes with handles).

More Equipment

Today, I bought a power rack with 380 lbs of olympic weight. I'm going to keep my machine though and use the rack for doing squats and benching.

Power Blocks

I have a recumbent bike and a treadmill but I also have a set of Power Blocks (dumb bells). I need to now find a total body workout using the Power Blocks. Can anyone point me in a good direction?

Going to the gym waste my time.

I personally prefer free weights. But because I can not count on anyone to spot me, I was using a Smith Machine. However, my wife and kids are starting to exercise now, so I sold my Smith Machine and bought a universal type of weight machine that pretty much does it all. I also have a set of Bowflex 1090 dumbbells and an incline/decline weight bench for versatility. For cardio, I have an elliptical, a treadmill, and the two legs that God has given me. For working on my core, I have an exercise mat, a stability ball, and a captain's chair. My universal machine also has a cable for doing crunches. Plus I use my dumbbells for doing lower back exercises like stifflegged deadlifts and I do side bends for my obliques. I do own a set of resistance bands. However, I only use them and do calisthenics when I go on vacation. When I'm not expecting to be around any other exercise equipment.

kicking bag & resistance bands

My favorite piece of equipment is my Wavemaster XXL. I punch and kick that thing and it totally wears me out. I love it. Also Bodylastics resistance bands are excellent. I have had some for 10 years and three of the bands finally gave out and I just ordered another set. I prefer those to barbells or dumbbells.

Total Gym XLi

My favourite piece of equipment is the TotalGym XLi, i bought it a long time ago but for quite a while I have only got it out on special occasions, hehe. the idea is you use a pully system to move your body weight and the higher up you set it the more weight you pull or push up to about 60% I think. I think it was about £140 at the time.

Most verstatile has been dumbells from 1 to 60 in 5 pound increments.

Also enjoy my Iron Grip Strength cage and pulley system with incline/decline bench.

My favorite new items is Rogue Fitness pull up bar that switches out with fitness rings.

Recumbent bike for HIIT cardio and occassionally the elliptical.

My current setup is in my garage until I finish my dedicated space for my home gym.

My Equipment

My best equipment is the following:

Elliptical Machine

Adjustable bench with leg extension/curl

Dumbbells

I also have:

An exercise bike (a very basic model)

Another adjustable bench

Fitness ball

I think my next buy will be a Hi Lo Pulley that uses plates rather than its own weight stack but without a bench (as I have two). There aren't many on the market though, as all the maunfacturers seem to be pushing home gyms.

My favourite exercise equipment is:

- custom metal DDR dance pad with ps2

- spin bike ($1500 bike for $300 off Kijiji that required inexpensive brake pad replacement)

- stacking free weights

- Nintendo Wii and Wii Active

- TV + DVD player + yoga videos / Women's Fitness exercise DVD with Jennifer Smith (so much fun!!)

mini trampoline

I have had this for a while but haven't paid much attention to it . Only used it occasionally. But after reading about the benefits of rebounding, I'm going to try using it more. The reseach says that the G force from rebounding helps activate the removal of toxins, improves coordination, helps improve bone density and enhances digestion and elimination
