stop smokingI desided to try to get life insurance being 335lbs and a smoker I was in for a reailty check as well as a wallet shock. Three months ago I was trapped in a motel brike down as usual and after a bad docters visit it was time to do something major in my life.I decided to quit smoking, this wasn't the first time but this time was different I was goning into it with the right attatude,I want to live. Cold turkey isn't for the faint at heart.and it helped that I was alone,no one to kill.I didn't use gum, toothpicks,or anything that would break my concenteration. It was only after eight days that I could make more than an hour without thinking about a smoke. The biggest hurdle to over was panic, man the panic i felt was intense,I had to stop everything and reeellllaaaaxxxx. wait for the panic to subside then and only then could I continue to function. Its been three months since my last smoke I still have moments that a reach for the pack, but I know that the first smoke I take will put be back at a pack a day. There is no doubt in my mind that if I bought a pack today that I would not stop till it was gone. And out of a habbit of saving money I would buy a carton and wouldn't stop till it was gone. All that from the slightest moment of weakness of letting myself have one smoke. Posted by cviers112 on Aug. 29, 2010 at 03:31PM |

Not to gain weight from smokeingJust like the last few thousand times I quit smoking I would pack on the pounds. Shoving everything I could find in my mouth to fight the craving/pannic attacks. Not this time I wasn't going to let it happen this time. It still takes all my consentration not to bust the glass out of the vending machine and shove chocolate in my face. answer-only self control can win this battle Posted by cviers112 on Aug. 29, 2010 at 03:37PM |

Keep movingI decided to work out to kill all the extra time that I had. I know what you are thinking, What extra time? Quit smoking, you won't believe how many extra minutes are in the day. I was broke down again, trapped in a motel scrapping and clawing at the walls. When I decided to go down stairs just to get out of that room.and as i passed the check-in counter I saw they had tredmills so I went back up stairs and put on some shorts and went for a walk. After and hour I descovered Not only was I not tired but I had Just walked two miles. So I jump off the machine head back up stairs and fell on the bead and slept for and hour or so,but I realised that my smoking craving was gone and so was the pannic I had been feeling all day. Four hours latter here comes the pannic and shure enough the cravings. So I put on a clean pear of shorts and whent back down stairs and walked some more, 2 miles later I was fine. Then it hit me holly cow I just walked four miles kept my diet and cravings under control and had a good workout day. I could get used to this. Posted by cviers112 on Aug. 29, 2010 at 03:50PM |

Started runningNow I know what you are thinking,me run nope!,hell no I used to run i swore never again! Man the only running I'm doing is to run to the store to get another pack of smokes!,I've heard it and said it myself. The fact is that eating less isn't enough with the job we have we have to move. those callories aren't comming off even if you off losed your own freight it isn't enough. Our bodies become very complacant,it adapts to what ever we are doing and then goes into store it mode. But its not as bad as you think. There is hope, you have to exorsize on a regular basisusualy 6 days a week. But only for an hour a day thats it you have to force your self to do something to raise your heart rate for an hour a day above verything else that you have done for that day. Here is the thing Iv'e stuck with this promise that I maade to my self and lost almost 35lbs in three months. Theree is no question in my mind that you can to. Running for my lifeI found that using my maping software that I could map a running area of 2miles very easly. So I would wake up at 6am and do alittle streaching for about 3min and start running, I did encounter a few problems, traffic for one. Allways face traffic,it will save your life. I bought a small safty light that blinks for $6 at the Loves, running at dusk this is a MUST have. Next I bought a mp3 player this was an invaluable asset. I used my Loves points so it didn't cost anything. The only true investment that I made was my running shoes, which I wasn't going to buy until I descovered how many blisters you can get from running in the wrong shoes. I spent $90 on a pair of NEW BALANCE extra wide, and ya-hoo no more blisters. So all in all $100 wasn't that big of an investment. It was worth it. Posted by cviers112 on Aug. 30, 2010 at 03:34PM |
