Hardgainers - Some high calorie shakes weve been experimenting wth

Hello all. A bit new here but finding my way around. I'm currently on a 5k calorie/day diet and to help with that, my wife has started making these shakes and experimenting with them. One of our goals is to be as organic and natural as possible. I do have two containers of TwinLab Whey protein though and of course dont want to throw it out, so I am using some of that until its gone. These shakes are really helping me to keep my calorie intake up. Maybe others will find it helpful too.

First up, the "Tropical" shake. This current recipe is just a tiny bit on the thick side for me, so I'll probably ad 1/4 cup of soy or low fat milk the next time.

You will love this one.

I drink this twice a day. It's cheap, easy, has lots of calories, and the macronutrient ratio is ideal for building muscle (50/30/20% calories from carbs/protein/fat).

You need:

1 cup rolled or one-minute oats

1 scoop whey protein (I use ON Gold 100% Extreme Milk Chocolate)

1 banana

4-5 cubes of ice

1 cup of milk

Blend the oats into a fine powder first, then add the other ingredients and blend until everything is well-mixed and the ice is crushed up. That's it.

Depending on the type of whey, the size of the banana, and the type of milk you use, this shake will contain ~650 to 750 calories. I drink one post-workout (morning) and another as a fourth or fifth meal in the afternoon.

At my current weight I consume ~3500 to 3700 calories a day, so about a third of my diet comes from these two shakes.

I recommend chocolate flavoured whey, mostly because I have never experimented with other flavors. The chocolate and banana combination is solid. Even people who aren't into fitness/nutrition tell me that they like the shake.
