Geeks Unite - Looking for a Geeky Motivator!

I was hoping for someone out to help motivate me that had similar interests as I do! Books, video games, and movies for me! :)

I want to lose weight and eventually run 3 miles a day. I run and walk about 2 miles along with strength training every day now. My endurance is up and I am making decent progress for week 2!

would love to be a motivator..

Hi there,

I am also looking for a motivator. i want to lose 25kg and dream of running a marathon on day (but to date this is onl a dream ;). I am all into QuantifiedSelfe for Sport and I am looking fore some other geeks who really want to change something and who are willing to work hard for it.

p.S: I have a Zeo, a Fitbit, a Withing (weight and blood pressure device) and I am absolutely into getting all new interesting QS devices out there :)

Keeping Track

I love competing with myself! I love the treadmill for that reason, because I can see if I was faster or burned more calories one day to the next.

Fired up!

Congrats on your progress. I'm not sure what kind of motivation you are looking for (not sure where the geeky part fits in). But one thing that does help me is metrics. Always keeping track of my personal records and gains. Its helpful to look back and see how far you've come. Knowing that today i was be better than yesterday is a great motivator.

Sad to say, I'm not much of a movie or book geek. My books stick to true crime, memoirs and trashy murder mysteries and my movies generally just run the horror range.

However, I do love me some video games!

I like all kinds of things! It's so hard to pinpoint them in a message like this.

Movies, I love everything. I rarely meet a movie I don't like! I really enjoy the LOTR series, Avatar, and Star Wars for more nerdy titles and Juno as my artsy side.

As for books, that's also broad... sci-fi, fantasy, great American novels. I have recently enjoyed "alternative History" books. They're really cool because they bring up things that actually happened but through something like dragons in to make it really exciting. I'd have to say my favorite books are A Wrinkle in Time, 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, annnddd The Sword of Truth series.

And thanks, I'm enjoying this site and getting back to healthy. I'm competitive with myself so it's really fun.
