Hi guys. Rules of this thread are:
Please post Geek Fitness stories, events, technology gadgets or other geek fitness things that changed your life. You must cite the duration of the change.
One rule is you absolutely cannot have a commercial interest in anything posted here. We will find you and pull your geek fitness certificate!
My current list:
Book: Eat to Live (past few months)
Change: This book has changed the way I eat. I am studying the ANDI score now and eating lots and lots of dark green leaves.
Book: The Anti-Inflammation Zone (past few months
Change: This book also changed how I eat... I think about inflammation and try to balance my macronutrients a bit better on a per meal basis
Heart Rate Monitor: (past few years)
Change: I've been obsessed with this thing. I got a VO2 Max test to find out my true zones and lactate threshold. I train and know about my HR zones and watch my resting heart rate for overtraining. Love love love the device, dont provide brand because I have been through several.
Sleep Surgery: ( past 5 years)
Change: I dont have sleep apnea anymore because I got my airway surgically reconstructed. This changed everything.
Ipod Nano: (past few years)
Change: I use beatunes to scan for music that is 90BPM or thereabouts and I use music for cadence both in cycling and running. I run on the treadmill to cadence.
Sole F80 Treadmill (desk) (past year)
Change: This thing has changed my work life. I walk on the thing and work for hours at a stretch. I just put a board across the arms of the treadmill and that's my desk. An amazing and life changing device.
So that's my list. A bunch of things didnt make the cut even though they are great like my Garmin wrist GPS, 4 hour body (the book), my blender (shakes for breakfast), martial arts, yoga, etc.
What's your list?
