Substitute for Coffee Sweetener?

Discussion started by cajebo

Subject Description

As it looks like honey, agave, sugar, and stevia are no-nos, I'm wondering what other choice there may be for sweetening up the morning cup o'joe.

And would my cave-man doppleganger 'recognize' cremora non-dairy creamer? :)

Cremora

Cremora - no. If you really need to put cream in your coffee, use full fat cream from grass-fed dairy if possible. Not technically paleo but if that's what you need, that's what you need.

As far as sweeteners go, on occasion I do use stevia in tea. However, I think the big concern with sweeteners, natural or artificial, is that they can cause spikes in blood sugar because the sweetness signals sugar to the brain, which causes the body to react appropriately. At least that's how I understand it in my completely unscientific mind. I drink coffee black so sweetener in my morning cup sounds awful to me, but everyone has their thing. You could try going without coffee (gasp! I gave myself a minor stroke there). Sorry, I don't have a solution for you. Good luck.

Coconut Milk

What about coconut milk? It's not that sweet, but it is better than not having anything.
