Any Bike recommendations for Tri-Newbies?

Discussion started by kellydigital

Subject Description

I'd like to know more information about whether I should get a road/tri bike.  Is there anywhere you can try out a tri bike to see if it is a good fit?    Is it a good idea to buy used?  What should I look out for.

I would go ride a few at your local bike shop see what feels good to you. If you plan to do Tri only then I would look at getting at Tri bike. I personally to Tri's and recreational Road and prefer the Road bike for the ability to climb canyons and versatality. I would rent for your first race to see if it is something you will continue to love.

Or better yet..buy a used road bike with some cheap aero bars (sub $100) ... then after your first race/season if your still hooked... splurge.

I bought a great bike on craiglist saved $500 off list price and added lots of accessories (shoes, tires, packs, aero, bottles, etc)
