Tracking WiiFit and other Exercise Total Calories burned

Discussion started by FitMe

Subject Description

We just love our new WiiFit.  The strength and yoga parts are fabulous.  I work out at a gym, but never felt my abs and thighs slightly burn the next two days after doing these exercises.  The balance ones are fun...maybe they will keep us from falling when we get older.

One disappointing feature is that if you mix this exercise medium with going to the gym, swimming, or running, there is no way of totaling the work-out value.  In fact, Wiifit chastises you that it has been __days since it saw you last.  It would be nice if you could input..I ran 3 miles on treadmill or did eliptical for 45 minutes at level 2 and know total calories for the week burned.  WW website tries to add traditional exercise plus cleaning house exercise.

I think you can...

In the Wii Fit Plaza there is an activity log.  You can add activities you did outside of the wii fit.  I have not done this, so I'm not sure what it entails.  But you can track extra activities.

The Wii Plaza doesn't offer the ability to add other exercise.

I went to Wii Fit Plaza to check out your tip...that you could add exercises outside the wii.  Yet, it didn't offer this ability.  It would be nice if the next generation would give estimated calories burned during a session and allow the inclusion of calories burned in other activities like treadmills, running medium speed for X distance and ellipticals...Guess we will have to wait.  Hope it isn't too long.

I meant to add to the message above that I did call customer service for the WiiFit.  Told them about this web site and our WiiFit group.

How to enter a non-wiifit activity.

Maybe you are looking in the wrong place?

  1. From the Plaza enter your profile and select 'Begin'.
  2. Go to the charts. Hovering over the image will say 'Graph'.
  3. Go to the tab that says 'FitCash'.
  4. Press the button that says 'Activity Log'.
  5. Choose level of effort and so on...

I'm using the European version but it probably doesn't make a big difference.

Forgot to mention that it is very basic. You have to keep track of your calories and such here. But you do get a graph that shows the amount of time you put into exercising.

Tracking use of gym Eliptical machine by equating Treadmill usage

Now I have found it..,haven't used the activity log yet...running is listed but I am not sure how the eliptical machine I use translates into calories burned as opposed to a treadmill.  I will run on the treadmill this week for a certain distance and time and watch the calorie number so I can convert my activity into one the we fit will accept.  Thoughts?

Quick Recording of Workouts

Now that I am just starting to create my gyminee workouts, I was wondering if there isn't a way that gyminee could add the stregnth training exercised offered on the Wii either individually or as an exercise group so that with a couple of clicks the recording of achievements could be done.  Or maybe these exercises are listed somewhere on this site and I haven't found them yet.

Finding calories burned on Wii Fit

Hi all,

I've also been searching for a way to calculate the calories burned on the Wii Fit, and I've finally found one. I know that this is in Japanese, but it's very picture oriented. After you enter your weight in kilograms, you can click which exercises you did, and how many reps, and it will calculate approximately how many calories you burned over the course of your workout.

In case you get tripped up, the first screen that appears to be instructions--you need to click the grey box in the upper right corner to continue on to the actual flash application. Hope this helps!
