New to Gyminee, Diabetes, and more...

Hello All,

I am Jason. I am new to gyminee and wanted to join a group of people who could relate to me. I have joined this group because I am a new diabetic. I thought maybe you guys would be a good support group for ensuring that we all stay fit and live longer.

I hope you do not mind that I created messages on the group, but I was wanting to know more about you all and the group.

Take care,

Jason

New to Gyminee Too

Hello all,

I am a new Gyminee member, but not new to fitness. I have had diabetes for 23 years and have been on my fitness journey for 10. Diabetes adds some extra planning to a fit lifestyle, but it can happen.  I am here to share what I have learned and learn anything I can from others.

Hi

I'm going on my second year since I was diagnosed with type 2.  At first I was doing great using nutrition alone to control my blood sugar, but I've been slacking more and more lately and its time to add in some exercise and re-focus.

Back in the Game

I was diangosed last year and in 3 months got my weight down 25 lbs and my A1C down to 5.9 -- but then I started 'treating' myself for my great success and have completely gone off the deep end. So I am trying to get back into it and really beat this.

I saw a nutritionist a year ago and I think I KNOW what I need to do, but I sure could use some tips from others who are in the same boat.

My dad died from complications of diabetes so I have seen first hand the horrors of this disease. I don't want to lose limbs and organs.  But I need help to keep me on the right path.

Just finding my way

Greetings. I had Gestational Diabetes with my last pregancy 9 years ago and they told me then that with my family history, I could pretty much plan on Type II diabetes at some point.

I don't think I'm there yet but my eye doc recommended checking my glucose based on changes she saw in my eyes. The next day, I got a high fasting glucose on finger stick and they drew an A1C which came back at 6.

My doc wants me to make "lifestyle changes" and we'll check again in 4 months or so to see if I'm going to pull this off without meds. I think I can do it, really I do, I'm just not sure for how long.

So here I am - finding my way into counting calories and carbs, figuring out an exercise plan and determining how much weight I should try to lose how quickly.

Diabetes in the Family

Morning all new do DB (aka Gyminee), I do not have diabetes and plan to beat it with the a change in lifestyle to incorporate healthy eating and living.  Diabetes is genetically in my family, I had a father die at 56 who was morbid obese (~700lbs) and grandparents who are (were) diabetic.  Hopefully I can learn from the past, and for a healthy future.  :)

New here

Hi! I just joined Daily Burn last week, but have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes for about 7 years. Last year I added Lupus to my diseases and the treatment for that is Prednisone, which makes me hungry and swells my body. I decided to do something about it and found a nutritionist in my health plan. Unfortunately, they only allow 4 visits, but I am hoping that the 4 will get me started and then I can continue with her on our own. They also have personal trainers there and I worked with one to design my own plan. In the first week of working with the two of them, I lost 5 lbs.

My trainer did suggest that I monitor by sugar before and after a workout in addition to my regular monitoring. I am diet controlled with pills.

Good luck all - I am aiming to lose 105 lbs total.

Rexie

Hello there

I was diagnosed with prediabetes/insulin resistance last monday. (Yes, I know the on going discussion on pre vs diabetes etc...) I am being treated with Januvia and was told to keep my carbs at 35 at each meal. I am aware that diabetics should keep a regular schedule and am having a great deal of trouble with this.
