Diabetics - Counting Carb

Hello all! I don't know about you guys, but keeping my carbs down is tough for me. Last year - when i was first diagnosed - I kicked butt, worked out, lost about 20 lbs. and got my A1C down to 5.9 -- then I slipped up and haven't been doing what I need to do. So now I am trying to get back into the swing because I need to lose weight and I want to get healthier. But carbs kill me!

I went to see a nutritionist who told me I need to keep my breakfast, lunch and dinner carbs between 45-60, and to have 2 snacks a day at 100 calories an 15 carbs each. I like coffee, so I make the non-fat milk in my coffee part of my carbs. But it is NOT easy.

I brought in some nuts for snacks, but they have way more tan 100 calores per serving, even if they ARE low carb?

Any suggestions? I would love to find some friends here in this forum to help and who I can help too!

Bloodsugar101.com

If you hven't already, read bloodsugar101.com or buy the book. I found it about a month ago and it gave me a totally new perspective.

I've been following the plan there and it really seems to be helping. My daily average is below 200 mg/dL for the first time since I was diagnosed over 2 years ago. I'm actually looking forward to my next A1C.

Note: I have no affiliation with the site or it's author, just a fan.

Carb...

The only info I am aware of that a diabetic shared with me is to stay away from complex carbs, anything with flour (NO), and regulate your portions.
