Thanksgiving

Subject Description

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the upcoming holiday? I know I've been working hard the past few weeks to eat healthy and stay active, and I've already started to think about the impact that Thanksgiving will have on that.

I'm hosting this year, so I'm in control of the menu for the most part, and I know there will be healthy options - turkey (obviously), salad, vegetables. I'm more concerned once the wine starts flowing that it will get easier and easier to forget my long-term goals for a short-term stuff-myself-to-the-brim dinner.

This year I'm going to try to drink VERY moderately, and I'm also trying to plan out what I can make ahead so that I can go for a walk beforehand. I'm not going to kid myself and say that I'll have time for an all-out workout that day, but I'll probably try to get that in the day before. I'm sure the gym will be packed!

Does anyone else have any other tips/ideas/plans?

Family Turkey Trot

I know it's after the fact, and I certianly didn't accomplish this, but a friend of mine started her first ever family turkey trot. On Thanksgiving day, the family all went for a 5k walk/run at a local park at about 10:00 that morning then all came home and finished cooking and didnt feel as guilty during the feast.

I thought it was a great idea and I'm going to try to get my family to do this in my neighborhood next year.
