Is this right?

Subject Description

Okay... so I'm confused. I've seriously altered my diet and added exercise for about two weeks now. Initially, my weight dropped a few pounds, but now I'm up where I started again? Is this to be expected from adding muscle mass? Should I ::not:: exercise for a while, or just avoid strength training?

Yes.  Strength training expands the muscle, which is heavier than fat.

But do not rule out strength training.  Increasing muscle size will give you the edge to lose that much more weight in the future, even while you sleep.

Increasing resting metabolism

With the increased muscle mass you will also be increasing the calories you burn in a day even when you are sitting in front of the TV as muscle requires more calories to maintain. It is important to watch more than just your weight, a good indicator, especially if you are male as to how you are improving is your waist size, something that indicates total body fat.

Thank you!

Excellent. Thanks for the input, everybody.

There isn't a way to track waist size here, is there? I do feel like I'm trimming down a bit, based on the way my clothes are fitting. It would be nice to measure that.

For a price

You can measure pretty much anything, for a price. With the Pro membership you can add custom measurements. That's the only reason I went pro, I haven't used any of the other features.

You don't have to pay

You can log your waist size with a free account too. Go to "locker room", the "body tracker" has a drop down menu where you can choose waist size among several other things to log additionally to your weight.
